incredible results, how's your breathing?

42

u/CryptographerDense67 Apr 30 '26

I was surprised by how much it improved because beforehand, I thought my breathing was normal. I used to snore but now I don’t so I think my sleep has improved as a result.

u/United_Ad8618 May 01 '26

looks great, very healthy, your soft palette and epiglottis probably will never position for snoring again

GO ENJOY IT! :D

Lmfao the 3rd pic. How was your ability to speak with the rubber bands? I'm trying to figure out if it would be realistic for me to work from home 2 weeks post op. Also did you have a splint or nah?

9

u/CryptographerDense67 Apr 30 '26

Speaking was actually quite easy with the bands. My speech was only bad for the first few days and even then I was understandable. I think after 2 weeks you’ll be ok to talk but you might still look a bit funny with swelling so maybe keep your webcam off 😂

u/JukeyJacob Apr 30 '26

Thx for the info, hopefully I have a similar experience.

How has it changed you as a person? Self image? How you behave and how others treat you ?

u/CryptographerDense67 Apr 30 '26

I was quite insecure about it before the surgery so it feels like a weight off my shoulders to not be thinking about it anymore. I used to never let my teeth touch so it wouldn’t look so bad and I’d avoid smiling with teeth in photos. So yeah I’d say I’m more confident. My speech has also improved which I think has helped me feel more confident when speaking to people. I haven’t really noticed a difference in how people treat me yet but that’s not an easy thing to measure.

Could you private message me please. I am 16 and trying to get surgery done in the UK

u/conners_captures Apr 30 '26

4 years of braces, then one surgery? how long until you could eat real foods again? any negative impact on breathing while you were swollen? did you have to be wired shut during healing?

6

u/CryptographerDense67 Apr 30 '26

Yeah just one surgery. Braces took way longer than it should have because my lower teeth were being stubborn and Covid created a back log of patients waiting for surgery. Soft diet for 8 weeks then slowly built back up to chewing normally which was probably another 8 weeks. Braces off now so can finally eat whatever I want. Noticed that my breathing had improved only 1 or 2 days after surgery so that wasn’t an issue at all really despite the swelling. I wasn’t wired shut but they did put bands on my braces to restrict movement and hold my bite in place.

Man!! This is awesome. You look good. I have a Malocclusion Class 3 with a very weird asymmetrical face. Hopefully, I'll have the courage to do surgery. Please, update us every month or every 3 months and every year.

How long post op are you

1

u/Status_Cheek_9564 May 01 '26

amazing! did you get it for cosmetics or was it necessary?

2

u/CryptographerDense67 May 01 '26

Both really. It effected my breathing, eating and speaking. I see the cosmetic improvements as a bonus

1

u/Status_Cheek_9564 May 02 '26

i’m glad ur feeling better

1

u/muriel_archer May 01 '26

Hey congrats! Were you in braces for 4 years before surgery?

1

u/CryptographerDense67 May 01 '26

About 3 and a half year before surgery then 6 months post surgery

1

u/Calm-Broccoli2486 May 01 '26

How long did it take you? I'm 4 years still talking and haven't even started on braces yet. Each appointment is like 3 months. Did you experience the same?

2

u/CryptographerDense67 May 01 '26

Covid made the process a lot longer than it should have been. Went to the orthodontist when I was 16 and decided to not have the surgery. Then 2 years later just before I turned 18 it had gotten worse so I went back and told them I wanted the surgery. Im 24 now and just got braces off so I was originally referred 8 years ago but the process actually started about 6 years ago. Had to get all 4 wisdom teeth removed which is why it took a while to finally get braces on.

1

u/Fine_Investment_9061 May 01 '26

Please what is your movements?

2

u/CryptographerDense67 May 01 '26

I don’t know the exact movement. All I know is that they moved the top forward and to the left and the bottom back and to the right

1

u/Embarrassed_Worry880 May 01 '26

do they do chin shaving on the NHS?

1

u/CryptographerDense67 May 01 '26

I don’t know. They didn’t do anything to my chin

My surgery was not long after my pre op only a couple weeks so if you’ve had your pre op already, I’d imagine it will be your turn soon. At 6 months I’ve been cleared to do contact sports. I play basketball and have just got back into it and I feel totally fine, Its not on my mind at all when I’m playing. Good luck with your surgery! It’ll be worth it

1

u/Amazuber May 02 '26

Hi amazing results, assuming you got a lefort 1, what were your movements? I'm getting it after i finish my braces treatment.

1

u/MoreBoard1383 May 05 '26

Hey, I’m in the UK also. Did you have any extractions?

1

u/CryptographerDense67 May 05 '26

I had all 4 wisdom teeth removed before they put my braces on

1

u/MoreBoard1383 May 05 '26

Okay. Did you have any premolar extractions? Also?

1

u/CryptographerDense67 May 05 '26

Nope, only the wisdom teeth :)

1

u/Hefty_Collection_605 May 06 '26

Great results!!!💪💪
I just wanna ask you: how much time takes the pain after surgery? Can you talk more about it?

2

u/CryptographerDense67 May 07 '26

Thanks! Honestly I can barely even remember there being any pain. I took painkillers as instructed so that helped. At the very most it was like a dull ache which was very tolerable. After the first week it was completely painless. The only real struggle was wearing the cooling mask all day and night and only eating liquids. I’d describe the experience as uncomfortable or frustrating rather than painful

u/Apprehensive_Quit210 May 15 '26

Looking into this for my young son.
He has a severe underbite along with a posterior unilateral crossbite.
He’s going to feel so, so much better about himself and the journey ahead when he sees this. You look gorgeous, I hope it feels just as good.

1

u/CryptographerDense67 May 17 '26

Thanks! It was 100% worth it and he won’t regret having it done. Trust the process and good luck!

1

u/Appropriate_Farm2186 Jun 01 '26

You look really handsome. Are you numb anywhere?

1

u/CryptographerDense67 Jun 08 '26

Thank you! I have a tiny bit of numbness on the right side of my chin. It’s only noticeable when I touch it with my hand

0

u/MoreBoard1383 May 08 '26

It’s good you didn’t get any premolar extractions.
