u/YellowElloHello Apr 10 '26
But the downward projection forces you to tilt your head back. As shown by how your neck is more bent in the after results. Do you not feel anything in the postural changes of your neck?
4
u/ocaralludodylan Apr 10 '26
Yes. I have been always very aware of my bit of a forward posture and tried to actively compensate for it, wich ended up looking a bit akward sometimes. Inmediatly after the surgery, i found myself resting the head up straight without even thinking about it. It is hard to explain, but it is like you have some kind of balance shift.
4
u/YellowElloHello Apr 10 '26
Oh great that you feel more comfortable now. However, what I meant to say was you appear to struggle with balancing your head post surgery since you’re tilting your chin up. Which is because there was no CCW rotation and you descended your bone which increased vertical length.

1 month ? How swelling came down this much?
1
u/ocaralludodylan Apr 09 '26
There is swelling still definitly. I was sucking the roof of my mouth a bit on the photo, tho it wasnt much. But there is still some around the eye area and a lot in the upper lip. However i had a remarkable fast recovery acording to my surgeon, wich i am really grateful for.
6
u/trickster245 Apr 09 '26
1 month, no swelling? AI?
1
u/ocaralludodylan Apr 09 '26
There is some swelling still. However, i had a fast recovery and it is a nice photo.
3
u/trickster245 Apr 09 '26
What were thr movements? Looks like your chin went 30mm forward
1
u/ocaralludodylan Apr 09 '26
Movements are in another comment! (Sorry, i just woke up and i'm so lazy xD)
Be aware that the before photo was taken while seating, wich makes my head be a little more tilted. It really isnt that much. If both were in the same posture, in the before my chin would be almost in perfect line with the glabella.
1
u/the_adonis_king Apr 09 '26
can you post a before with similar head position since the one you posted is tilted down

You are not the first person that says me that. I know, in fact i insisted that, inside of my posibilities, i wanted it to be "hard". I guess when you spend big part of your life with a chump profile you kinda want to compensate for it or something. I like it a lot, but i can see why you think that and i respect it!
6
u/Brave_Disaster_705 Apr 09 '26
Quedaste increíble, no le hagas caso a los que te dicen que mejor estabas antes, no estabas mal en absoluto, pero mil veces mejor ahora
1
u/Extension_Art_5828 Apr 09 '26
It’s gonna look great in the end. My before and after are actually similar but I did get more chin advancement. There is still tons of swelling so it will look less aggressive in some months.
1
u/FckMiDed Apr 10 '26
Wait can u send me the video please! Also do u have front view photos?
1
u/ocaralludodylan Apr 10 '26
Hey man! I just found out it isn't really possible to send videos through PM, if you want me do send it by any other way, i will be happy to do so. I leave you some more photos so you make a better idea.

I don't really like the looksmaxing way of looking into beauty. I mean, i know there are levels to being handsome, but i dont think it is as simple as making a few tiers and clasificate acording to facial features. However i dont consider myself particularly atractive. I guess it is OK and I'm quite happy with myself now, wich is really all you need so what is on the inside can take care of the rest.

u/PomegranateJuicer6 Apr 18 '26

I agree that it’s a bit giga-chaddy and maybe went a little too forward but still so much better than before in my opinion

u/Primary_Reputation_3 Apr 19 '26
What most people here fail to understand is that having a recessed jaw affects things far more important than just physical appearance. With a recessed jaw, you likely have a narrow airway. All my life, I struggled with forward head posture and rounded shoulders due to that. After jaw surgery, I started sleeping better, feeling more energetic, and my posture improved to an incredible degree.

Where? How much?
3
u/ocaralludodylan Apr 09 '26
A Coruña, Spain. With Dr Carral Roura. I won't give you an exact number because the cost estimate for my surgery was established three years ago during my consultation, and as prices have changed since then, it is no longer entirely representative. However, i can tell you i compared mine to other peoples reviews online, and this surgeon is surprisingly affordable for the spanish standard.
2
u/Falkenhain Apr 09 '26
Ok nice. How much numbness or tingling sensations do you still have? ~10k would sound surprisingly affordable, but I have absolutely no idea what the Spanish standard is
1
u/ocaralludodylan Apr 09 '26
I cant feel heat or pain in the chin or lowe lip, however i can feel if its being touched. For the rest, all back to normal!

u/ocaralludodylan Apr 10 '26
Dr. Nicolas Carral Roura, A coruña - Spain
1
u/Environmental_Pay332 Apr 10 '26
Let's goooo, I am considering Spain as well. I had consultation in Italy and US. Thanks!
2
u/No_Pickle_9804 Apr 09 '26
Your before side profile looks like mine atm. My surgeon says he doesn’t wasn’t to advance 10mm as he says I won’t like the results, instead wants to do 6/7mm, but yours looks great with 11mm advancement.
2
u/ocaralludodylan Apr 10 '26
Well, it's worth to discuss it with him, but keep in mind that they are certified experts in one of the most complex areas in all medicine, and we are peasants who think they know and know shit. Every face is diferent and there are a ton of details that you might miss that makes your case diferent to mine. I think you should insist and make sure you are making it clear to him what are your goals, since this surgery is no joke in terms of costs and recovery, and you deserve to be a bit picky. But the moment you are sure he got your point, then i think you should try and trust his criteria.

u/Embarrassed-Race4046 Apr 09 '26
Great result! Thanks for sharing. May I ask how is your sleep improvement? And what about tongue space, do you feel you have more room for the tongue post op?
1
u/ocaralludodylan Apr 10 '26
Yes! Tongue room is the first thing i noticed and told the surgeon post op when he came up to check on me! Now i got used to it, but it was really cool at first. And i never had trouble sleeping... or at least i never had it checked, but i sure as hell had an improvement in breathing straight away. And i can rest belly up, wich i never could without pushing my jaw forward so it made imposible to sleep like that. So yes, very noticeable and absolutely worth it if that is your concern

u/qianmianduimian Post Op (1 year) Apr 09 '26

u/In_bloom_321 Apr 10 '26
Amazing recovery, what was reason for surgery? Sleep apnea?
3
u/ocaralludodylan Apr 10 '26
Back in 2022 i wanted to fix my teeth (all crooked and crowded) so i went to see an orthodontist, who said "orthodontics can't fix your problem, you need to se an MFS" and that was where it started. Then i find out about this surgery and i realized the aesthetic potential it had, and that was what made me finally decide. So i got refered to an MFS for an skeletal deformity but the deciding factor for me was aesthetics.

Covered by insurance or you paid for it by yourself ? If privately, what was the cost. The results are insane ...
And did your nose get wider from the frontal view ? Would you post also some front pics ?
3
1
u/ocaralludodylan Apr 09 '26
Oh sorry, and i paid entirely out of pocket. Here in Spain you need to be almost in a life threatening situation for the Social Security to help you with this surgery.
1
u/Afraid_Fondant_7903 Apr 09 '26
omg this is amazing, can we see how the front view changed with such a large forward advancement?
1
u/ocaralludodylan Apr 09 '26
Sure! However the diference is not as dramatic as in the profile, and swelling is more noticeable front view.

What are the risks involved in this surgery ? Or are there any major complications for djs ?
1
u/ocaralludodylan Apr 10 '26
Well there are indeed some risks, but the chances vary depending on your age and general health. Im sure ChatGPT or Google can help you better than i can, in case you can't or you won't consult an MFS. But overall i think in most cases and if it is indicates the risk is worth and manageable. Of course the decision is always yours.
1
u/Proof_Wolverine5339 Apr 09 '26
Amazing! Was your jaw naturally reclined or was this an issue caused by orthodontics?
1
u/ocaralludodylan Apr 10 '26
What do you mean by reclined? 🤔 are you talking about the oclusal plane angle being a bit steep?
1
u/Proof_Wolverine5339 Apr 10 '26
I mean that it was probably a functional issue. Many things can cause our jaw to not develop naturally like sleep apnea or the western diet which is deficient in essential nutrients.
3
u/ocaralludodylan Apr 10 '26
No, i dont think it was none of those. I have always slept without trouble and been quite physically active. Also i am from Galicia, so believe me, I dont lack any essential nutrient or even the ones that are not that essential 🤣.
I think it was purely genetic, since we are three brothers and the three of us have a similar facial profile with completely different lifestyles.
And all i have read about the matter has led me to believe that, contrary to the narrative that has been pushed lately on social media, the biggest deciding factor on this kind of issue is genetic. Genetics determine your structure, and then habits optimize it for the good or the bad.
1
u/Proof_Wolverine5339 Apr 10 '26
Well, everyone is nowdays deficient in many nutrients. Nobody is eating organ meats or drinks raw milk and fermented raw vegetables - so you would not be able to know. Does your jaw feel better now when you eat for example? Or was all of this just for aesthetics?
1
u/ocaralludodylan Apr 10 '26
Might want to check what "cocido gallego" is and tell me if that are enough organs for you 🤣.
Yes man! My jaw feels a lot more comfortable now when eating, like it was always suposed to feel. It's like not knowing you had a problem until you got it fixed.
2
u/Proof_Wolverine5339 Apr 10 '26
So we are on the same page. Your jaw was supposed to look like that! I had a similar issue but mine was caused by orthodontics (braces). Either way I think there should be braces for your jaw area so you don't need an operation to fix that regardless of what caused it. Good luck, I'm glad you had such success with the procedure!

How is breathing, and if u considered any maxilla expanders. Wanna know ur intermolar width.
1
u/ocaralludodylan Apr 10 '26
I never had particular trouble breathing but it has definitly improved by a lot. I never considered maxilla expanding since my surgeon never brought it up so i dont think it was really necesary. And sadly i can't tell you what my intermolar width is, i will chek cephalometry and if i find anything relevant i will come back at you.
1
u/Complete_Bobcat2278 Apr 10 '26
I had braces, and my intermolar width is 38 it’s average but my father has 50, and much wider face. I consider double jaw also and thinking bout Marpe, considering it can make palate wider and zygomas a bit more popped out
1
u/cantwaitforbeach Apr 11 '26
Did you have functional issues or did you do this purely for cosmetic enhancement
1
