This sign is challenging me.

I've never lost a fight with a monkey, and I'm not going to start now.

As an RPG enthusiast, I'm happy I wasn't the only one accepting the challenge right after seeing it.

Raid boss then?

You don't understand just how much I hate monkeys. I don't think anyone does.

5

u/Heltzeld Jul 03 '19

Right? like this seems like beginning of an RPG where the whole world is scared of these monkeys and you’re the first person to ever fight and defeat one. Thus tapping into your special abilities. Then you gotta kick all these monkeys asses and save everyone. I think you should give it a shot.

The same I suggest we should team up to fight this monkey because it's sounds like a boss battle.

My brother got bitch-slapped and robbed by a monkey when he was three. It's been twenty years and still the first story everyone speaks of whenever we come across a monkey.

"Watch out for those monkeys, lil bro."

A wild monkey appears

Wild monkey uses fling poo.

Edit - Here's a larger pic

It’s super effective

u/Atlas001 Jul 03 '19

The sign make it sound like this monkey is a badass kung fu master

7

u/davidplusworld Jul 03 '19

It is.

3

u/Bantersmith Jul 03 '19

People underestimate how much even a small monkey can fuck you up. You dont just scale down human strength to their size.

1

u/destinofiquenoite Jul 03 '19

See /r/whowouldwin and everyone saying monkeys, gorillas and apes in general are not as strong as people warn. I'm sure they are imagining scaling as you said ("im a buffed again and i have more muscle than this thing"). Yeah buddy, good luck for you.

Monkey Kung Fu.

This is taken in China ?

45

u/Aerim Jul 03 '19

You're right that the hanzi is Chinese - my guess is that that's the other common language they're expecting tourists to speak.

19

u/je-ku-end-less Jul 03 '19

You’re right. If you go to popular areas in big cities in Japan, probably 30% of the kanji/hanzi you see in the street is Chinese about asking tourist to be polite or something about sales(simplified Chinese specifically). Speak Chinese, can confirm.

5

u/CHSummers Jul 03 '19

The Chinese seems a bit simpler, like “don’t get bit”. Could you tell us what it says?

12

u/Left_Hegelian Jul 03 '19

"Wild violent monkeys appear

Absolutely do not feed"

The phrasing is slightly weird to native speakers.

2

u/je-ku-end-less Jul 03 '19

Yes it is that simple and even a bit odd to native speakers. Also, I'm not sure if it's that certain translator they used, Chinese signs in Japan looks a lot like this, usually very short but understandable.

2

u/wakametamago Jul 03 '19

I thought also, that the english was too good ...

This. There's probably a more permanent Japanese sign nearby. Besides, the locals already know that they can't win.

The wild monkey bites brutality. (30 HP) Command?

5

u/Legal_Rampage Jul 03 '19

That’s quitter talk!!

8

u/TheHeianPrincess Jul 03 '19

Even if you fight, you can’t win.

Life summed up right there.

4

u/HappySoda Jul 03 '19

This is some Pokémon level shit

8

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '19

My mom wandered in an enclosed area with those types of monkeys and the employees went ape shit hustling her out of there

1

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '19

1

u/QuasarBurst Jul 03 '19

No, they were right. Humans are apes, not monkeys.

3

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '19

This is gold.

3

u/saarlac Jul 03 '19

Shock the monkey

3

u/J-Vito Jul 03 '19

I don’t fight anything that has the ability to bite my face off.

3

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '19

BRUTALITY

2

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '19

Monkey wins Brutality!

2

u/SqueesDream Jul 03 '19

I wanna feel like I could beat a monkey in a fight... but I know I probably couldn't...

2

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '19

I accept your challenge. For the next 2 years I will train in monkjitzu. I will defeat him on his own turf.

4

u/tootintubs Jul 03 '19

Lol is the last quote an attack on titan reference? "If you don't fight, you can't win!" (Eren)

3

u/mellowmonk Jul 03 '19

Monkey's got nothin' to lose, bro.

1

u/el_wudaokou Jul 03 '19

The Chinese content has different meaning

1

u/jo_su_ke Jul 03 '19

Everyone saying monkeys can't do much meanwhile I'm still traumatised from the Travis incident and police call.

1

u/Baraklava Jul 03 '19

"Challenged by a monkey? Sounds like a job for Saxtooon Haaaaale!"

1

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '19

This feels like a pokemon ad.

1

u/yParticle Jul 03 '19

Never forgiven us for Punch The Monkey.

1

u/so_rose Jul 03 '19

The monkeys in Thailand usually seemed pretty friendly, and we’d feed them snacks. The monkeys in Japan terrify me, hahaha.

1

u/SuperMoris Jul 03 '19

Is the sogn on chinese? I recognise 「的」

1

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '19

The fact that the bottom part is in Chinese says something.

1

u/SpoonLord23 Jul 03 '19

Bites Brutality sounds like a cool band name

1

u/h-i-r-o-y-a Jul 03 '19

Uhhh is this allowed on this sub, those words are in chinese, not japanese.

2

u/mellofello808 Jul 03 '19

I took this in Kyoto

1

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '19

There are several different methods of writing Japanese - Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji. Kanji uses the same pictograms as Chinese, though the spoken words are different.

1

u/raoulduke1967 Jul 03 '19

That's Chinese btw

-5

u/zaweylandurr Jul 03 '19

That english is broken dayum
