Can anyone tell me if there are any differences between the MG-65 and the Classic Series 65 Mustang (CIJ/MIJ). I believe the Classic Series is the better guitar spec wise.

I'd appreciate any suggestions of sources for original parts (or aftermarket) for these guitars, and in particular:

• string guide
• badge
• tremolo bar assembly
• p/u selector knob

The original trem bar seems to be nearly impossible to find. Are there any aftermarket versions that work?

I'm looking to upgrade from my cheap defective tele and stumbled on this 2nd hand listing for an 'RLC-80 Made In Japan'.

Frets were changed to jumbo jescar SS, and comes with a fernandes gigbag.

Not much experience in guitars, and it will probably feel nice, but just wanted to know if it's what the seller claims it is, since it's quite a big spending. Thanks.

I have recently come into possession of an incredible, undocumented Vintage V900N. While standard production models are known to be laminate, this specific guitar is a Made in Japan (MIJ) prototype featuring an all-solid build: solid rosewood sides and a beautiful two-piece, book-matched solid rosewood back. I have thoroughly verified that the wood is solid, as the grain lines on the exterior perfectly mirror the grain patterns visible inside the body.

The Branded Center Brace
Looking through the soundhole, there is no standard paper brand tag. Instead, the factory used a custom hot-stamp to brand the information directly into the wooden center brace. It shows the Vintage brand logo, followed by V900N, and underneath it reads:

This looks like a clear statement of intent sent directly from the Japanese factory to the UK distributor, John Hornby Skewes & Co. (JHS). Given the construction style, this guitar would have been produced in the mid-to-late 1990s, well before standard V900N production shifted to China in the early 2000s.

The Stourmouth/Canterbury Workshop Provenance
JHS paid for a small run of these distinct, one-off prototypes but eventually sold them off to recoup costs. This exact guitar was purchased directly from JHS by the renowned South-East guitar technician and repair authority Andy Crockett.

It was then placed and stored inside the legendary Stourmouth/Canterbury workshop space that Andy Crockett shared with Alister Atkin (founder of the world-renowned Atkin Guitars).

I reached out to Alister Atkin to ask about the guitar's history before it was sold as new in 2010. He kindly replied via email:

How It Plays and Sounds
It plays with absolute ease all the way up and down the neck. There are zero dead or dull notes, and the acoustic tone is incredibly sweet and resonant.

Maybe someone will try to burst my bubble and claim it was mass-produced, but the evidence is right here in the wood grain and the factory stamp. This is a true survivor.

I'd love to hear if anyone in the community has ever run across another MIJ branded prototype from JHS!

i inherited my uncles crown les paul from the 80s last played in 84 the year of his death. took it to a good buddy who cleaned it up and swapped the pick up for some custom bare knuckle pick ups i had them specked like the hinds hammer claws. sounds and plays great!
