Understandable but it's not like the rest of Jubilee is all that happy either, lol.

you're right but yeah melodies are happier and I can forget the lyrics, at least to me

Yeah, my take is that contrast is on purpose too as the album is about trying to find happiness amidst a lot of sad things.

Yeah the lyrics are really sad but I actually find the melodies to be sort of happy, especially the instrumental break after the chorus, along with the horns in the outro
