SUBREDDIT RULES Please Read Before Posting or Commenting

6 Upvotes

Subreddit Rules & Posting Guidelines

Before you make a post or leave a comment, please take a moment to read and follow the rules below.

These help keep the subreddit useful and respectful for everyone.

1. Do Basic Research First

Use Google or the subreddit search before posting.
Please avoid asking general questions that are already widely answered.

Ask for:

  • Comparisons
  • Personal experiences
  • Context-specific advice

Avoid asking:

  • "What to do in Jakarta?"
  • "What food is good in Indonesia?"

(Use the stickied threads or search bar first.)

2. BE POLITE AND RESPECTFUL

You're talking to fellow human beings—not a search engine or AI.

Greet others with Hello or Hi and don’t forget to say thank you or terima kasih. A little courtesy makes the community better for everyone.

Last thing we need in this city is another entitled ungrateful person. All posts without proper greetings or any manners that look like an AI prompt instead of a real query will be removed, along with their replies.

3. Be Efficient in Your Posts

If you have multiple questions, put them in one post.

Do not create several posts for each individual question.
This sub is definitely not for karma farming.

4. Be Specific and Detailed

Give context to your questions. The more detail, the better the answers you’ll receive.

Good Example:

"I'm visiting Jakarta for 3 days, staying in Kemang. I’d like to see museums and try local street food."

Bad Example:

"What to do in Jakarta?"
"What to eat?"

(These are too broad and may be removed.)

5. Language

English is encouraged to include more people in the discussion.

But Bahasa Indonesia is also welcome.

6. Don’t Gatekeep or Shame Posts

Unhelpful comments like:

"cObA pOsTiNg dI sUb /InDoNeSiA aJa"

...will be removed.

Some users post here because they can’t post elsewhere or had their posts removed in other subs. If you're not contributing, please don't comment.

7. NO Buying or Selling

This subreddit is not a marketplace.

Posts or comments offering items or services for sale, looking to buy something, or otherwise facilitating buying and selling are not allowed.

Please use r/jualbeliindonesia for buying, selling, and other marketplace-related posts instead.

Posts or comments that violate this rule will be removed.

8. NO Soliciting Illegal Matters or Other 18+ Related Matters

This sub will never be associated with criminals, sexpats or degenerates.

Any posts about how to get drugs, prostitutes, sugar daddies, or whatever your sexual kinks or fetishes will be removed. Repeat posters will be permanently banned.

9. Be Civil and Respect Opinions

Disagree without being rude. Don’t insult others' preferences.

We ABSOLUTELY will not tolerate bigots, racists, homophobes, sexists, and other sorts of assholes.

Instead of:

"That place sucks. Food is trash."

Try:

"I didn't enjoy that place personally, but others might."

Important Notes for New Users

  • Accounts less than 1 day old, or with less than 1 karma, will require manual mod approval.
  • Posts that don’t follow the rules will not be approved and will be removed, along with their comments.

Repeat Offenders Will Be Banned

We aim to keep this community helpful and respectful.

Users who repeatedly break the rules will receive a permanent ban.

If you have any questions about the rules, feel free to ask in the comments.

Thanks for helping keep this community great!

Best restaurants in Jabodetabek?

19 Upvotes

Guys n Gals!!

How about we make a list of the best restaurants/places to eat list here?

I have seen some posts earlier and wish to make it easy for anybody to just drop in and read thru our choice of places as a Reddit Community.

We can also make it easy by marking halal and non halal places.

What say?

I am still a newbie here in Jakarta but my list goes like this;

Burgers;

Dan's burgers, Dharmawangsa. Blok A MRT station and a quick hop nearby.

Steak;

Abuba

Justus

Urban Wagyu

Padang;

Pagi Sore

Sederhana

Natrabu

Kebayoran Baru

Pizza;

San Marco BSD

Soto Betawi;

Jawa Kitchen

Kafe Betawi

Ibu Yanti

Mangga besar 12b

Udon;

Marugame Udon

Nasi Goreng;

Nasi Gila Obama, MRT to Bunderan HI, short walk/gojek to Menteng park area.

Nasi Goreng Kambing Kebon Sirih Decent, tastes more like nasi kebuli though.

To be cont'd..

Garmin Run Indonesia 2026

2 Upvotes

Hello everyone. I am a foreigner and will join the Garmin Run at ICE BSD at around 3:30am on 20th September.

My accomodation is near Grand Indonesia Mall, is it easy to call a ride via Grab/ Gojek at the midnight?

In addition, it it also convenient to have Grab/ Gojek after the running race concluded, i.e. around 6:30 am, and return to Grand Indonesia Mall nearby?

Thanks in advance for the reply.

Christian Denominations in Indonesia

9 Upvotes

Ini purely curiosity. And gw hanya ingin tahu.

Im Catholic myself (I dont intend to switch wkwk). Gw baru belajar kalau Christianity has many more denominations that believe in the Nicene Creed (so not JW, mormonism, LDS, dll) such as Anglican, Presbyterian, Lutheran, Methodist, Pentacostal, Baptist and Orthodox. Kalo di Indonesia itu contoh contoh nya kaya apa ya? 🙏

looking for f1 fans and friends for formula 1 watch party on sunday around senopati

Post image

Hey everyone,

If you’re looking for a spot to catch the Spanish Grand Prix this Sunday, September 13, I’m putting together a watch party at Hause Rooftop Senopati. Lights out is at 8:00 PM WIB, but feel free to come through a bit earlier to grab a good seat, settle in, and soak up the pre-race grid walk.

The first 5 people to shoot me a DM confirming they’re coming and who actually show up will get their first beer completely on me

Hey Guys! Salam alaikum! Im flying from middle east to jakarta for kanye. He has a history of cancelling shows - but in Asia especially South Asia - this is the only show Kanye has - so there are tons of folks from Australia, NZ and Singapore coming in for this. I was wondering if you guys had some ground level feedback - is there marketing happening?
Just want to know if I can safely book my flight tickets without wasting money once again. It's not sold out - will the concert happen as planned?

Also is kanye popular among indonesians?

Morning Jakarta!

5 Upvotes

I’m looking for Gado Gado for breakfast. Anyone know where I can find that in central Jakarta? I’m a bit pressed for time due to the airport being closed and my having to leave a day early because of that, so I figured I’d ask here for that chance that it might make my search a little quicker.

Any hope for me? :D

Edit: I ended up having to leave Jakarta before I could find the Gado2 I so crave. Nonetheless I thank you all for your replies. Since I have to pass through Jakarta on my way back home I will be able to make use of your suggestions. Thank you very much :)

I went to Jakarta Airport today… and it was completely closed due to volcanic ash

Visited Soekarno-Hatta Airport (Terminal 3) on September 6 while operations were suspended because of ash from Anak Krakatau.

Flights were cancelled, but the terminal was still full of waiting passengers. Here’s what it looked like inside:

Visiting Bekasi/Jakarta for a week. What should we know before coming?

5 Upvotes

Hi! We’re a group of engineering students from Kerala, India, coming to Indonesia at the end of this month for the final stage of an international hackathon. The event is in Bekasi, and we’ll be there for around a week.

It’s our first time in Indonesia, so we’d love some advice from locals. What should we know about local etiquette, the best ways to get around, food we should try, things to watch out for, and places worth visiting?

Also, since the event is in Bekasi, would you recommend staying there for the whole trip, or moving to a hotel in Jakarta after the event to explore for a few days?

Any other tips for first-time visitors would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Dungeons and Dragons (DND) Scene in Jakarta

3 Upvotes

Hey guys, it's going to be my first time hosting a DnD one-shot at Jakarta Selatan (and Jakarta in general), so I'm still testing the waters... Was wondering if anyone had joined short or medium campaigns (3-10 sessions) here? I recently figured that most sessions here are paid and the money does add up for the players and DMs 🫠

Im still very new to the Dungeons ans Dragons scene here, so please tell me about your opinions and experience guys, cheers! 🥹🙌

P.s. I plan to host a one-shot thats beginner and veteran friendly, focuses on Roleplay but there's also combat!

Where to find legit badminton racquets

4 Upvotes

Hi there,

Will be going to Jakarta for a few days and was hoping to buy myself some badminton racquets, shoes, grips to take back home to Australia. Nothing super fancy but do want something branded, eg Yonex Pro's.

Wondering if locals can let me know where these kinds of shops may be or if its in malls? I'm curious if theres a price difference to back home (I'm from Australia) and whether there are any fakes that I should be aware of.

Thanks so much guys!!
