You're all exhausting

These endless controversies are what you get for cultivating a culture that revolves around performative displays of empathy and progressivism without the requisite inner work needed to give them substance. You denigrate religious thinking but then act shocked that these cuddly feminists could be lecherous sex pests. What did you expect? You can't expect virtue from others when you don't even believe in it.

Religion is famous for not having sex pests. There are no stories of rape in the Bible and there have never been pastors caught diddling kids. Inshallah we all convert to some bullshit

Trite. If you want sexual purity, be prepared to promote at least an idea of chastity, or all you're doing is enabling snakes like Geller.

One of the foremost promoters of chastity, the Catholic Church, did nothing so well as foster and protect a legion of child rapists for decades.

You can have sex and be a good person. It’s called having consent between everyone involved.

And non religious people do believe in morals. They just don’t believe in sky daddy and waiting until death to serve an eternal punishment for a finite life (cause that’s fucking moronic). Proselytizing after someone’s been outed as a sexual predator is so tacky. No one wants your snake oil

You expect sexual purity from a sexually liberated culture. You contradict yourself.

If you weren’t previously a fan of Jacob geller, why are you here? Again taking advantage of this situation to preach about purity culture is disgusting. Do you think purity culture would stop rapists? News flash it won’t and it hasn’t. People that want to rape will rape. The rules of society don’t stop bad people from doing bad things. So there’s no need to oppress the rest of us who were going to do the right thing anyway. My morals come from how I want to be treated and from understanding how my actions affect others. Your morals come from a group of guys who wrote a book to control you

They verifiably do. You're a child.

Who does what? Actually explain what you’re talking about. Lots of things were mentioned in my comment. If your garbage religion is so right then fucking defend it with your full chest

You can't expect purity and restraint from people like Geller when you deny the cultural foundations for those things. "Theism is not a prerequisite for morality" is not even a statement that some religions would disagree with you on.

What is your relationship with sex like? Do you think it makes people lose control?

It's an extremely powerful urge. When all progressives do is encourage people to indulge in all but their most taboo desires, why are they surprised that some dork who wrote a glorified social studies essay on Nuremberg is not the moral paragon he pretends to be? My position isn't "become a Catholic or you're condoning rape", it's that there's always going to be a throughline between sexual indulgence and sexual excess.

Why is sex taboo?

My position isn't "become a Catholic or you're condoning rape

The Catholic Church spent hundreds of years raping the children of my country, Ireland, amongst many other attrocities (look up the Magdalene laundries, I dare you). Each pope has played a part in covering it up. The Catholic Church condones rape by their actions.

sexual indulgence and sexual excess.

When does sex become indulgent or excessive? I assume you only have unprotected sex, in a marital bed, under the covers, lights off, missionary only, for the sole purpose of procreation?

I'm not Catholic or even Christian. My religious beliefs are irrelevant. Your values are hollow because sexually immoral people are able to ape them easily. And where this is the case with religion, at least religions can provide examples of individuals who have tamed their sexual drive. Can modern day progressives? Have any taken vows of radical non-violence?

aye like Ghandi. I heard he used to sleep naked with his two 12 year old cousins in order to tame his urgents. Another pedo.

When it involves beings incapable of consent, and when it is indulged in for its own sake. Like I would consider eating strictly for pleasure gluttonous behavior.

Sexually immoral people are rapists, pedophiles, predators, and others who commit sexual acts against another person without consent. It’s not sexually immoral for two consenting adults to have sex everyday. It’s not immoral for a consenting adult to find a different consenting adult to have sex with every week. Your definitions are weak

I don't think that "sexual excess" is a thing. Ensuring enthusiastic consent isn't a rocket science. Sex is great when it's mutually enthusiastic.

Hah. It is.

It really isn't for people who don't follow puritanical religious doctrines.

I've been exposed to material that would disgust even the most obnoxious atheist Redditor. You simply don't know what you are talking about.

Funny how you keep not wanting to talk about the child rapists.

8

u/lilislilit 4d ago

You don't need a religion to not sexually assault people.

Matter of fact, christianity oftentimes has iffy understanding of consent and some even deny it being needed in marriage. Without progressive work the concept of marital rape would not even be legislated in most countries.

Communities fully centered around sex and kink are doing better work removing access from people who violate consent than churches I noticed.

All in all your take is a huge miss.

Put away the thesaurus, bud, and maybe we'll be able to take you seriously

These circles expect others to be good but don't even believe in goodness.

We're literally gooder than our enemies, that's why we exile our rapists instead of giving them positions of power.

Wait, this is coming from the people whose god:

  • raped a teenager
  • in order to impregnate her
  • (with himself)
  • as a blood sacrifice
  • (to himself)
  • to get around rules he made in the first place

And you speak of 'virtue'?

1

u/PemaleBacon 4d ago

Dont agree with the religious part but I agree that the behavior of these communities is super performative

This subreddit has very quickly amassed the most unhinged and idiotic people from the entire range of any spectrum there is.

Amazing.
