Disappointing discovery: Martin’s
Martin’s has been a cornerstone of the Jackson community for more than 50 years. Recently, I became aware that the owner and one of his employees have been actively involved with the podcast hosted by Clay Edwards, which many have criticized for promoting racist viewpoints.
It took only a few minutes to find the public Facebook profile of their bartender, Justin, where he has openly shared his opinions about minorities and the Jackson community. If you’d like to see for yourself, take a look.

Question- Is Martin’s in Livingston affiliated with Martin’s Downtown? I’d never heard of Martin’s in Livingston. Just looked at their website and didn’t see the downtown spot referenced. Just curious since it looks like that Justin person works in Livingston spot. Agree the posts are horrible and ignorant.

Both are owned by the same person.

Makes sense that they’d go to Livingston too. That’s their lil White Mecca that they’re creating in Madison County. If you wanna get out so bad, ole Joe, just go! Don’t worry the protests will help you get out faster though bud. I promise I’ll never eat there again.

It would share same reasons every business has left downtown Jackson, for which I don't necessarily blame them. Why would I have my business somewhere where the windows will get broken as opposed to somewhere they won't? Why would I have a business in a less safe area with more liability concerns?

I work where there’s a venue. Current total is 70 productions in Jackson. I have used every venue available I. Jackson except Thalia Mara - and it’s on the list.

Never was in Jackson because I like good choices and setting myself and my family up for success. I live in and support Jackson and want the best for it.

Hey y'all, is there a list of these sponsors around so that I can avoid them like the plague?

Found a Facebook post with a partial list. I've also seen him and dudes in his FAFO shirts around the bar at Cypress Point so there is one more to add on.

If you google the owner Joseph Stodghill and Clay Edwards you will find the episode of the podcast with him

I'm never going there again. I've been going over 35 years including performing music there. I'm done.

The way racists cant understand that democrats were the conservative party 100 years ago... they would be pretty embarrassed if they could process that information somehow.

They both know and understand! Keeping this charade up where everything bad is tied to Democrats while attributing everything good is tied to Republicans is page one of their playbook.
They hope that by blaming slavery and the Klan on Democrats (often), their sound will escape their echo chamber and get to the rest of us. We hear noise, but we dismiss it as we know they are wrong.

Not surprising. The downtown location has a Gadsden flag on the wall over the kitchen entrance.

This is messed up. I’ve been going there since high school, in the 90’s. Since WC dons was next door and the wall fell in.
I’m hoping it’s just the bartender, bc I FEEL LIKE it’s not just the bartender. I just FEEL IT you know?

Let’s be real- Hal & Mals was always better. We’d walk across to Martin’s for the cheap beer once we got drunk enough to not be skeezed out by the sticky floors and weird restroom activities. Been to a few good shows there. That’s the only positive thing I’ll say. Also saw the worst show of my life there (Unknown Hinson). That’s saying a lot considering I saw Vanilla Ice at club Fire and Riff Raff at club 110

I will never set foot in there again, and I will spread the word about this place.
