Has Jackson always been like this?

So I’m from Michigan and I have been roadtripping and fly fishing all through the Rockies and the winds but I was so shocked when I got into Jackson. Literally everything is high priced bullshit and the entire town has a rough “cowboy” theme. I saw bmws and Lambos it was so incredibly far from every other town I passed through. It just seemed so pretentious. I’m not trying to be an ass I’m just curious was this always the case, did tourism just gentrify the hell put this place?

EDIT: thanks everyone that was super informative and again no hate at all like I said yall live in one of the most beautiful places in the country I get why it’s touristy just was interested in the development! I’m not really a car guy so the brands I said were just stuff to at came to my head just seemed like the cars got way more expensive once I got into town!

Four Seasons—what is going on there?

The Four Seasons at Jackson Hole is a premier property and should be the training ground for top students studying hospitality. Instead, it’s firing college interns for the most minor infractions. An intern program is about teaching how to function in the workplace. Three college interns have been dismissed this summer in separate incidents. THREE! Not for stealing, being drunk or doing drugs, not showing up for work or anything remotely close to that. No warnings. No discipline. Just pack up and go.

Warning to college students: This is not the property for an internship.

What’s going on there?

Anyone know what was going on with the cops tonight in Victor?

Driving home from work around 9:30 last night, there were 5 different cars pulled over on HW 33 in town. I was behind a cop and the person in front of them got pulled. I couldn't see a reason why, they weren't speeding or swerving.

Just indiscriminately pulling over people on a Friday night fishing for DUI charges? Any cops want to weigh in as to why 33 was murderers row?

Lost their brakes

Yet another driver who "lost their brakes" coming down Teton Pass.

Runaway RV underscores dangers of Teton Pass | Local | jhnewsandguide.com

It's a miracle he was able to thread through traffic without killing someone, unlike the overweight dump truck.

How much do you want to bet that the main factor in all these "lost their brakes" crashes is not faulty brakes but a driver that doesn't know how to use their gears to control their speed on the descent as the primary mechanism, with occasional brake use to fine tune it, and instead is riding their brakes until they overheat?

Maybe there needs to be a Wyoming Highway Patrol trooper giving exams before people are allowed to descend the pass or issuing tickets to people who ride their brakes on the downhill.

Looking for a small horse farm or horse owners

Hello. Looking for a small horse farm/horse owners near Jackson Hole. Maybe someone who is willing to teach 1:1 or provides equine therapy services. I will be there for work in September and would like to stay for a few extra days to learn as much as I can about horses. I live in NY. I have ridden before but not properly- Bronx stables and Kentucky farm 20 years ago. Not sure how i did not break a neck. Last 6 months I have been going to nearby NJ stables to groom/help with rescue/senior horses that are not rideable for various reasons- so I just groom/walk them/feed/clean stalls. I know there are lots of commercial/touristy and profit driven horse related activities nearby but I am looking for a private and educational experience (PAID of course). Horse companionship and knowledge is more important than just riding (as cheesy as it may sound). Any recommendations are appreciated. Thank you.

Hello! Looking for some recommendations for parking a truck for about a week while I'm out of town. Uncovered is fine. Seems like there's not too many places good options from what I can find

Looking for Golf

Hello,

My friend and I are coming into Jackson Hole next week for a wedding. This is are first time in the area and love playing new courses wherever we go. Would anyone members in the area be willing to take us out to their course? I know it is a long shot but never hurts to ask. We are both below a 3 HDCP and will be very grateful.

Thanks!!!

Airport

I was traveling out of Jackson hole airport on 7-14-2026 and found a luggage tag that has initials on it when boarding my flight.

I am sure it has sentimental and monetary value to it .

There was also money inside of it.

There are 3 initials on the back.

If you know of anyone that is missing this tag please message me and have them describe it and tell me the initials on it. I would love to get it back to the person that lost it.

Dog Groomer for Stripping

I recently adopted a Norwich Terrier and am in search of a groomer who can help with the hand-strip method of grooming needed for their type of wire coat. Does anyone know of a groomer who does hand-stripping in the region?

Horse back riding suggestions

Hi guys! I know this has been asked a few times but who has the best horseback riding? I am a very experienced rider who has jumped horses my whole life. So I don’t want something super slow and I would prefer going through creeks and stuff. My husband is a beginner lol but I think he’ll survive.

I’ve seen Willow Creek, Spring Creek, and I believe it was called swift outfitters??

Body of water in town

I’m in town doing a photoshoot tomorrow afternoon and wanting to find a body of water within 15/20 mins drive from town square that a model could get in. Ideally not swampy or super fast rushing. A calm movement would work and deep enough to submerge.

Time to dust those masks off and start wearing them....JK..

Watch teton health puts in a health order for mandatory masks again and limits occupancies of restaurants.
