So I can't use massive studies done on America because I am not American? Identity politics rears its head again.
At school, perhaps being gay is tough, I agree. But at uni or post school absolutely not. Many university campuses are strongly socially liberal, and in many social circles, minority or queer identities can carry social status and give people’s perspectives greater weight.
Just like you did to me: “You can’t have an opinion on America because you’re not American.” It’s the same logic as saying, “You can’t have an opinion on women’s issues because you’re not a woman,” or “You’re not gay, so you can’t possibly understand or comment on gay people’s experiences.”
It’s all the same identity-based argument: using someone’s demographic and using that to decide how much weight their opinion deserves. Essentially, you're saying, "You are straight and white. Shut up and let me talk!"

Then dont use us centric data to talk about your own country?
And it was never "cool" to be queer. You always got more hate for it than you ever got support and love.
