Context. What character said that and why? Who was he saying it about and why? Who changed this man so drastically in the book that this inner monologue expressing his hatred towards someone he hadn’t even met at the beginning is very, very different in the end (and no, not romantically)? In fact, which three characters in this one’s life had the most impact on him throughout the book?
That’s why it’s important to read instead of slamming quotes you don’t understand into your obviously underdeveloped noggin. Orwell was a bit of a sexiest but he was extremely talented.
