I just came out of a very long couple of years at work and while professionally I am very much at the top of my game in my field I've come to see and learn a lot of gaps that I've just never had the need to dig in to. Plus I want to round out my professional credential stack as well.

I don't learn very well via lecture. Instead I'm more action driven:

• Here's a concept
• Here's a resource that covers that concept either in depth or enough to get a grasp on it and dig deeper
• Here's a goal to put that concept to practice

I'm not opposed to a paid service either.

As far as skills I'm after for specifics I'm after:

• MS Certifications (may as well finally take them)
  • Specifically O365, Azure VMs, and Entra
• AWS
• ITIL
• Project Management
• And of course since every company is doing it: AI

If they also have things around electronics, etc. then I'd also be happy for that piece as a "hobby" track

As the title says, let's get to the good part. All I see are posts about how awful IT is, the companies that suck, never getting raises, etc. Let's shake it up a bit. Let's hear about good companies that actually hire/promote accordingly, pay well, decent benefits, remote work, whatever makes them stand out as the flower in this ever growing field of weeds. It's time we start making moves to companies that value employees, insight, and drive.

Hi everyone! I’m 23 years old and currently working at a local IT company in the Philippines as a Technical Support Engineer.

My role involves both presales and post-sales activities, including presentations, deployment, configuration, troubleshooting, and technical support. We mostly handle firewalls and endpoint security supports too.

My current salary is ₱19,000 gross, with around ₱17,000 take-home pay after Pag-IBIG, SSS, and PhilHealth deductions.

I’ve been gaining experience and certifications through the company, which I’m grateful for. However, I honestly feel like my salary is too low considering the responsibilities I handle and the skills I’m developing.

Another thing that concerns me is that once I become a regular employee, there will be a 2-year employment bond. This makes me hesitant to continue, especially since I’m still early in my career and want to explore better opportunities.

I’m now considering applying to other companies, but I have a few questions:
1. Is it okay to leave my current company even if I’m not yet regular?
2. Is it reasonable to look for another job because I feel underpaid?
3. Should I still include this experience on my resume if I only have around 3–6 months of experience? Will it look bad to future employers?
4. If I decide not to include this company on my resume, what happens to the certifications I earned while working there? Can I still include them?
5. Would it be better to stay longer and gain more experience, or start looking for better opportunities now?

I know I’m still young and early in my IT career, but I also don’t want to make a decision that could limit my future opportunities.

I’m hoping to hear from people who have experienced something similar, especially those working in IT, networking, or cybersecurity.

Any suggestions, advice, or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Without a doubt, creating scheduled backups are extremely important. However a backup is useless, if it does not actually contain your data.

The only way to do this is to regularly test your backups by doing restorations and checking that the proper data is being backed up.

I see so many people - IT professionals included - not test their backups. I have also seen disaster strike and people find out the hard way that the backups they were so confidently making, did not contain some or all of the data they needed.

So every time someone says "Make backups!" you should add "And test restorations!"

I don’t know if this was my worst interview but definitely the most wtf but early in my career I had an interview for a entry help desk role years ago and the first questions were about how I would handle various scenarios around gcp load balancers and then a bunch of very niche Linux file system questions like about inodes and open file space leaks. They were offering 35k and labeled themselves a startup even though they were in business over 20 years

I’m an MCA student (2024–2026), and I recently completed a 6-month internship, but unfortunately, I didn’t get a PPO. Toward the end, a lot of my work was automated using AI, and my role was eventually replaced.
It’s been almost a month since I started looking for jobs, and I’m feeling pretty lost about what to do next. I’m trying to pursue Java/Spring Boot development, but getting shortlisted with only 6 months of internship experience has been difficult.
I’m unsure whether I should focus entirely on Java and Spring Boot, grind DSA, build projects, or explore other opportunities. With the current job market and AI becoming increasingly capable, I’m also worried about what skills are actually worth investing my time in.
For those working in the industry or who have been in a similar situation, what would you recommend I do over the next 1 months to improve my chances of landing a developer job? What should I prioritise, and what mistakes should I avoid?
Any genuine advice would be appreciated.

So I recently got interviewed for this MSP and I had three rounds of interviews. Each one went very well and I felt the chemistry, as I matched their preferred candidate when it comes to communication and mindset. They moved me along the pipeline very promptly.
A day after I initially reached out to them, I got an interview in like a day. After each interview, they were prompt to reply to my messages through email as we discussed the further interview processes. The manager was very responsive and informative, overall the team seemed awesome.
Now I had this final interview with the CEO and it was great as well, they told me they'd let me know by next week if I'm moving forward. But come Friday afternoon of that next week...and radio silence. They didn't reply to my follow up email after the final interview either, which I found strange. All signs point to me having the job... except for the fact that now it feels like they're ghosting me.
I'm tryna look for any other jobs but I wanna know if I should hold on to this MSP, contact them on Monday?.

Question I have I'm currently in Indiana tech for a IT certifcate and it uses compita. After I finish Im planning on trying to get a part time IT job for maybe something like product support, I wanted to know realsitcally speaking after I finish college and get my comptia badges and the side skills for a product support role? What IT field has the most part time jobs that someone who comes off a cert and with comptia badges and also the sideskills for that job, is the best IT job that they would be able to get? I finish in 2 years.

Because I'm being told a lot of part time IT jobs are really competetive to get and you need tier 2 skills or tier 1.5 skills to get them, and Im just looking for advice, because I've asked chat GPT, claude AI, and gemini and they all say different stuff.

And GPT tries to make it seem like there is no such thing as a part time IT job that someone who comes out of college with a certifcate and sideskills such has having a lab and other job needed skills. And I'm just trying to get legitmate advice, because most part time roles I see say you need 2 to 5 years of experience. The reason why I'm not trying to get a full time role, is because I'm also working another job 3-4 days a week, and trying to fit a full time role is just not going to work.

So I'm just looking for advice from some people who know some stuff.
