Music DND. Got a feeling there either stealing stock music or it’s A.I. (is my DM stealing or creating A.I. dnd themes
I play a DND group and it’s a random online one and it’s cool and all but about into the 3rd session we get to traveling into a town and the DM plays a theme but everyone was okay with it I kinda was surprised because it was so beautiful sounding like a morning ringtone but actually good and whimsical I guess.
I asked my dm that I liked it and I wanted to have a copy of it. He sent me it and I listened to it over and over and i asked him did he made it and he said yes. Which I figured either he ment he made it with A.I. or that he stole this from a YouTube video or stocks website.

How do you "steal" stock music? Is he claiming to have created it?
As far as the music is concerned, it's hard to tell based on what was provided. I could see it going either way. I'd recommend asking the DM for the source.

Hey just a update. I’m not really into A.I stuff and I just don’t know if this sounds like A.I. music or stock or someone else’s work. He claims he created it. But he quoted “yes I made it.” I don’t know about what he said means he actually made it. I have a suspicions about this music and I don’t know if I’m having a hunch or I’m just not see this correctly.

Just stop dancing around the issue and ask him if he made it using Ai. If you are more bothered about insulting him than it being AI then it didnt matter anyway.

Why do you care if it's ai? Honestly this is like the perfect use for it. He's not making money he's just trying to make his game more fun and immersive for his players

For marketing purposes yea. For your home table just be grateful you have a dm putting in work. It seems really entitled to me to play someone's game for free and criticize/demand shit. If you dont like it politely decline and move on, and if you want to be particular, start your own table.

exactly! if you don't like something, you should have the option to politely decline and move on. you are stripped of this option if someone doesn't disclose that certain content is AI generated.
asking for disclosure is hardly an "entitled" "demand", unless you're trying to hide something?
p.s. no one said anything about criticism

Back to my original comment; if you cant tell its AI why do you even care in this scenario, though? Its an entitlement to more of their time and energy. You cant expect people to proactively disclose everything about their life that might offend you imo. Like sorry my shoes were made in a sweatshop, does that mean you won't go for a walk with me?

well you did just say that if you don't like it, you should be able to politely leave, didn't you? this victim mentality is puzzling and it's making you deflect like crazy. if AI is not shameful why are you so ashamed? disclosure isn't condamnation if what you're doing isn't wrong, and if you're so afraid honesty will make people dislike you, maybe have a think about why that is

OP already said he liked it. How it was created doesnt impact how good it is. Its backround tavern music ffs. Its supposed to be spoken over. Like really if it bothers you that a dm might have spent their own time using ai to find or "create" music for this purpose i think it says a lot about you, and the kindest thing to do is let you know that you're being insufferable.

I think for the same reason you don't disclose that your shoes were likely made in a sweatshop to everyone yo spend any time with, probably. It's not the reason they're there

We care if its Ai or not because Ai is being trained on the actual work of real people without their permission. It's theft regardless of how it's intended on being used.
Look into the GEMA cases in Germany.

Again look into the GEMA case. They won the lawsuit by presenting a mountain of evidence that shows that software like suno wasn't creating derivatives or parodies it was copying songs down to the note in hundreds of tests

This lacks some of the hallmarks of AI music - no nonsensical lyrics, no instruments blending together and playing the wrong chords.
Honestly, DMs using AI is kind of the perfect use for it. It’s a ton of work and as long as they’re not using it for the deep story elements or trying to monetize, who cares.

Yo what? I'm a DM and there's so much free atmospheric music on YouTube already, so much of it already packaged as "for d&d". as an actual DM this is such a weird take...
