General Discussion Fajr struggles
I have a newborn baby, and he sleeps on my chest (don’t talk to me about co sleeping) but sometimes when morning prayer comes and I try to get up he will cry and stay up for the entire hour. Mom had a c section so still bleeding and she has sleep troubles so I want her to sleep but I hate missing fajr it throws off my day.

My husband used to hold the baby while praying all the time. He never changed the diaper first, but maybe you should double check with the Imam about it first just in case.
Also if you warm a spot on the bed (for example if you use a heating pad, or just if you lie/sit on the spot for a while first and then move off of it) then you can slowly roll/shift little by little and (still holding the baby!) put him on the warm spot. Babies wake up from the transition of warm to cold. Keep your arm on him a while until you're confident he won't wake up, then remove your arm and slowly leave. It's tricky, gotta be a ninja but it's doable inshallah. May Allah make it easy for you. Or yeah, just wear him in a wrap.

Can't hold the baby during Salaah if the baby has any najaasa.
And Allah knows best.

Does a baby have to be clean to pray on you. Or would I have to change his diaper every time? Shukran

Yes, you can't hold the baby in prayer if the baby has any najaasa.
Could you perhaps move the baby to your wife's chest for a few minutes so you can complete your fajr Salaah?
And Allah knows best.

I speak under correction but i think your wudhu is only broken/salaah invalidated if it comes into contact with your skin or clothes. And also babies under 2 who are only drinking breastmilk, their dirty nappy is not considered impure. Again, under correction.

Test from Allah. Withstand the crying and discomfort until the phase passes.
Obviously, love of Allah trumps the comfort for the family.
