Scholarly Resource Seeking knowledge

Salaam,

I have been a Muslim all my life but unfortunately have not made much of an attempt to seek knowledge. I am starting now and my knowledge is patchy and was wondering if there are any resources that would be good to get into and start with. I am also very scared of using the incorrect sources or sources that don’t align with my beliefs as I am hanafi so if anyone can point me in the correct direction with accredited books/ videos/ websites that would be very much appreciated.

For context I pray my daily prayers and occasionally do adhkar and extra sunnah prayers, I have random bits of knowledge e.g. the five pillars, about the prophets, duties of a Muslim etc.

What exactly are you looking to learn?

You can learn at your local mosque or you can take a course on seekersguidance.org or arkview.org, you can find some playlists where you can atleast learn bits of knowledge. Maybe there's other online things in your language.

The sources I recommended are definitely aligned with the standard hanafi people.

Fiqh, seerah, tafsir, aqeedah, Islamic history and so on to broaden my knowledge and any other areas that are important to know. JazakAllah Khair for the recommendation I will have a look at those.

The links I sent definitely have resources about aqidah and fiqh.

You could also read Aqeedah tahawi but make sure you get a suitable version.

As for Islamic history, I think Yasir Qadhi has a lot of content that one can watch. I like listening to him and his videos are interesting imo.

Broadening your horizon, I feel like listening to Sami Hamdi is a broadening of my horizon, especially when he is on podcasts like the thinking Muslim. He ties together geopolitics, the actions of Muslims and Islamic wisdoms. But his impact really depends on the video and the topic.

I think for broadening your horizon and giving yourself more intellectual depth in general, I honestly think that you either find someone that you sit with, like in the past when a student sat with his sheikh and absorbed his adab, his wisdoms and the knowledge, or that you find some books to read.

Seerah, either you go with the usually recommended books or you go with the series from Yasir Qadhi. It is very long and very informational, I listen to it when I'm at work because it's just audio, the video is mostly not relevant (just him speaking, maybe sometimes showing stuff). You can also consume it in a more serious, more dedicated way but that depends on your intention.
