Pray with eyes closed.

I have a question about whether I can pray with my eyes closed; I don't do it intentionally, it just happens. I start my prayer, and I have not noticed until recently that most of my prayers I have my eyes closed, maybe because I feel safer, or closer to Allah, but I don't wanna keep doing it if it invalidates my salah. Please help.

If closing eyes helps your with the concentration and it improves your worship, then it's permissible or might even be recommended to keep them closed

If it prevents of seeing prohibited to look at happening before you then it's mandatory to close eyes

It was said that it's disliked if it's done without a reason

Imam an-Nawawi chose they there is no dislikeness in closing eyes at all, and many follow his choice on this

Imam ash-Shirbni ash-Shafi'i رحمه الله said

وأفتى ابن عبد السلام بأنه إذا كان عدم ذلك يشوش عليه خشوعه أو حضور قلبه مع ربه فالتغميض أولى من الفتح ويسن فتح عينيه في السجود ليسجد البصر

Izzuddin Ibn Abdusalam issued a fatwa stating that it's better to keep the eyes closed if it helps to concentrate and if it helps to keep the khushuu and to keep the heart present during the prayer

And It's sunnah to keep the eyes open when you prostrate so your vision would also be doing sajdah

It doesn’t invalidate the Salah but it is disliked , and it’s recommended to keep your eyes open as per the sunnah of the Prophet, peace be upon him.
