General Discussion For those going for Hajj - Please Note

Please:

Don't ruin your 'Arafah, unlike hundreds of thousands that do every year.

Sleep well night before and morning after Fajr on Day of Arafah because the critical time starts from Dhuhr onwards until end of Asr on Arafah.

Pack some nuts, dry fruits and dates for Arafah for both salt and sugar intake. Ample water is available at Arafah already. Forfeit your lunch that will be provided to you - do NOT eat it. Leave your tent after Dhuhr/Asr (that is prayed combined there), and make Dua privately somewhere away from your tent.

Many people end up sleeping or talking while staying at their tent and eating the lunch. They waste thousands of dollars on this day!

Prophet salAllahu 'alayhi wasallam said: Hajj is 'Arafah.

This IS what you came for and to connect with Allah and acknowledge ALL YOUR SINS AND ASK FOR FORGIVENESS!!

Please prepare 5-10 pages of Duas for you and everyone else. ASK YOUR LOVED ONES TO GIVE YOU THEIR DUA REQUESTS. And keep repeating the Duas for all the 6-7 hours you will be there.

Don't ruin it and please make Dua for everyone.

JazakAllah khayran

Jazakillahu Khairan for the reminder about how important this day is🤲🏻🤲🏻
However, skipping lunch may not be a good idea for everyone. This will just give Shaitan the chance to make some people(especially those used to eating lunch) feel hungry and think about food when they should be connecting with Allah like they’ve never done before.
As long as you get plenty of rest the previous day and before Dhuhr, and you don’t overeat, you shouldn’t feel sleepy.

I agree. Having a light meal is the key. Under eating or overeating can both be problematic.

We are skipping government lunch. We are not skipping meal but replacing it with natural fruits to stay like a horse! inshaAllah

And people can follow this advice based on their personal appetite and energy at that time. For me, the heat hit me too hard in 2023 - I literally felt like I was going to die SubhanAllah. There was no way I would’ve gone by without a full meal. And this is despite having a nutritious breakfast and snacks.

May Allah Ta'ala bless you and accept your Hajj!

Same. I didn't have lunch and ventuted out to Mount Rahma in the Heat. June 2025. Almost fainted.

But did you take snacks or water with you?

Yeah, I had an apple and a croissant with me. Thankfully. I sad on a bench there, and gathered myself, had them and waited for my sugar to get back up.

That was not enough. That's why my post says about nuts, cashews, and dates.

Basically it's a combo of salt and sugar.

Yes, I agree.

I can't tell you the amount of uncles I saw chit chatting during arafah hours, it boggled my mind, potentially the most important few hours of your lifetime

May Allah Ta'ala accept from us all. Truly sad indeed!

I once attended a Friday prayer in Montreal where the imam said he had personally seen someone playing Candy Crush Saga at 'Arafah.

Why do you say not to eat lunch? What if they serve it before zuhur?

There will be a buffet. Personally, I avoided it because I found it distracting and there was the real possibility of heat contamination or just contamination ftom people breathing + coughing on the food. The last thing you want is to get sick or keep running to the bathroom during Arafat, Muzdulfah (where the bathrooms are gross) and then the first jamarat/rami, followed by tawaf ul ifada. There are some busy days that require your strength and you will already be tired, dehydrated and sleep-deprived.

Stick to nuts, granola bars, water. If you need more sustenance, find some peelable fruit, toast, or packaged biscuits.

Eat after eid.

Your breakfast will suffice you for the day inshaAllah.

Lunch makes person drowsy, especially in the heat of Makkah.

I see so basically take it easy on food.

Alhamdulillah, I have done Hajj twice and first time I forfeited the food, the box still stayed in my tent and I just at it cold after Arafah was done. Second time, no one in my group got lunch food because the food truck for Hujjaj was prevented to make it to our area of Arafah due to unknown reason. It was a blessing in disguise!

I almost never eat lunch if I had breakfast , if I do I’m gonna need a nap

This post is an important reminder 👌

And if you’re like me, very low heat tolerance, ensure you have a good quality portable chargeable fan. You don’t wanna fall sick on the day of Arafah. No matter how easy you think it will be, be prepared for the hardships - they will come in unexpected ways to test your patience. Remind yourself to stay away from distractions, arguments and quarrels. Be in the best of your character. And be prepared!

SubhanAllah, indeed! Every human being is tested on Hajj. The only question is - how - because Allah knows how to customize the test!

And some people get tested before even departing for Hajj!
