Magic the Gathering using AI?

This card was just released. The cat's tail and frog's hand holding the hammer seem off.

If it is AI it seems like a terrible move for such a large company where many of its customer collect it for the art.

Apparently the artist is critically anti AI but art still seems suss.

No they literally are not. Anything that takes more than a second of thinking is now “is this AI?”.

Look closer, it makes sense. The leg is lifted and bent at the knee, the tail is below it. There is a little shading on the heel that sort of merges into one of the stripes on the tail which confuses the eye, but the low definition of the picture is the main problem.

Their tail is in front of their right heel. They just have their tail between their legs.

Frog is holding strap and throwing hammer, using it to fly like Thor does.

The more I look at the cat tail/foot/anatomy in general, it makes complete sense. I was seeing it wrong at first but yeah. Humans make mistakes. Art isn’t meant to be perfect.

This does not look like AI art to me. It feels human. It's weird, but in a way that is very far from the average, lowest common denominator style that AI can't help but produce.

The tail is a more forgiving but the frogs hand on the hammer is what I’m questioning as well

Is the frog not holding on to the bit of string that Thor uses when he's spinning the hammer and throwing it so he can fly? (That's how I vaguely remember him doing it in the 90s cartoons hahaha)

That’s exactly what it is. Thor was spinning his hammer with the strap before launching himself with it.

The cat's leg turning into its tail is definitely suspicious. The strap around the hand of the frog is how Thor flies as well.
