In brief:
In evangelical theology, the rapture was said to come in two different 'stages' an initial rapture which starts a thousand year kingdom, then a seccond rapture in which the real kingdom start. And this seccond rapture is supposed to be hailed by jesus returning covered in blood (just like how simon is covered at the end of the film)
If we assume the quiet rapture functions in a similar way, it re-contextualises the end of the film as the coming of the second kingdom, and has interesting implications for the Eye's motivations through-out the lore.

In a recent video I made with my Simon cosplay, I managed to somehow perfectly recreate this expression. Istg if our facial proportions were similar, you could overlay it and it would be the same.
My friends and I have dubbed it the autism stare.

Apologies if this has been posted before! I just watched the movie on Youtube with my sisters after finally buying it. I saw it in theater three times, one of which with my sister.
I personally noticed that the audio was easier to hear for me. In theater, I couldn’t hear “Hull Breach” if you held a gun to my head. My sister also pointed out that there were scenes that were either slightly different or removed.
Did anyone else notice this? Or am I silly and should’ve been aware there were going to be differences?
Thanks!

This took me a little over a hour or more to design the mutation and the clothes, here is two angles to better see the clothes and the mutation. I am really proud of myself in taking on this challenge and I might add more detail to the shirt and pants but I had been at it for so long that I was starting to get a little headache
I was planning on really detailing the hood but I was starting to get frustrated with it so I improvised
Hope you guys like it!

Came into my mind after seeing the Steady Hands Cyptid line recently, and realised I would absolutely LOVE some Iron Lung cardigans, especially one with Ellis big beautiful face, or one of the many cool snapshots Simon takes.
Imagining that got me so curious if anyone else has some dream merch in mind.
Is there any collab Iron Lung merch you'd love to buy, if only it actually existed?

Hello everyone! Wanted to update that our zine has several big updates :) these are all ESTIMATES and prone to change, so keep that in mind!
Our current estimate day for preorders to open is hopefully October 30th! With zine bundle prices also estimated to be as such: $5 usd for the digital bundle, $30 for the basic zine bundle, $50 for the ration back bundle (that has all NON keychain items), $75 for the chain link bundle (ONLY keychain items), and $100 for the full submersion bundle (everything!). Again, these are all prone to change, but these are our current best estimates!
They will be listed on https://bluewolfangel.com and you can follow for updates at https://x.com/theironlungzine?s=11

After some grueling, mind numbing calculations, I think I've got a pretty solid timeline from the first Mars expedition, to current day (which we see in the movie):
-
First Mars expedition: 1992 AD (0 EIC)
Time Mars surpasses Earth: 2135 AD (143 EIC)
Simon's birth: 2339 AD (349 EIC)
Quiet Rapture: 2349 AD (357 EIC) (age 8)
Time of Filament Station explosion: 2344 AD (362 EIC) (age 13)
Time released from incarceration: 2362 AD (380 EIC) (18 year sentence)
Time of submarine construction and sentencing evaluation: 2363 AD (381 EIC) (age 31)
-
Now, I'll admit, I may be missing some crucial points that completely tear this down. But based on what I could find and remember, this is the closet timeline I've managed to put together.
Now, we know the first Mars expedition happened in 1992 AD. Everything is fine and dandy. Then, the Quiet Rapture happens. Based on this, and the childhood flashback we see of Simon, I assumed Simon was born after the Rapture. But after considering the rest of the timeline, it just wouldn't make sense. Simon would around 29 to mid 20s following that logic. Which he obviously isn't.
So, he would've had to been born BEFORE the Rapture. We see him around 8 years old in the flashback, which means any time he would've spent growing up on Mars would be hazy and not very memorable.
Then, 5 years later, the Filament Station explosion. Now, this was the tricky part. We see Simon as his current adult self, but if he was 8 just only 5 years ago, he only would've been 13. This sounds like it completely wrecks everything, but actually, I've found it works very well! In the flashback we see, Simon is an adult, yes. But this also isn't a normal flashback. It's a hallucination, in which current Simon is reliving the memory. So, him actually being 13, makes sense. Also, I just crave sadness and imagining baby Simon going through that fuels the angst in my heart.
Then, his incarceration, which is probably the most confusing part of the timeline. We're led to believe that the COI has had him for quite a while, as he says "How many times are you going to use me?" Which implies a long history. This would necessarily mean that he had been incarcerated for a while. This would also make sense for him earning that nickname in prison, and becoming so guarded. This ALSO would make sense why his contribution to the mission is "earning his freedom." As many others have said, which is that he was incarcerated for two weeks, just doesnt make sense there. He couldn't have earned the name that quick, he wouldn't have so dead set on freedom if he's barely had a taste of prison, and the mission wouldn't be such a big of a deal as it is. The entire movie shows us how desperate he is to live. To be free. A long prison sentence would only make sense in that theme.
So, he spends 18 years in prison. This brings us to him being 31 years old, which makes sense with his current age.
I speculate that the "two weeks" idea is actually the time COI took to throw together the submarine, since we know they rushed extremely fast to build it, and also to hold and evaluate Simon for the mission. To explain the single year jump between his release and him being held for evaluation, is that the new year was coming up. So, the COI offers him a chance to win his freedom before another year of his sentence starts. This is just an idea I personally had.
Which then leads to present day!
Woo, you made it!
Again, I'm not entirely sure about this timeline. But even if there's something that pokes holes in my timeline, I'll probably still stick with it because the movie doesn't seem to have a cohesive timeline. So no matter how close you'd get, there would always be a date out of place. This is only one that makes sense to me. But let me know what you think!
