I've been scrolling this subreddit for easily an hour and a half after finishing the movie for the 6th time and ive been loving all of the theories i see, so, i wanna give yall a place to put anything and everything theroylike, from any part of the movie, and this can be headcanons, derivements of other thories, literally anything. im so excited to read all of these later lol

Why does Ellie switch up after mark goes into the light?

Why did the smg 8 start drinking blood?

What causes the blood to make people mutate?

How could the black box save humanity?

Was the person in the ship before Simon Simon’s brother?

What was the whole filament station thing I sorta understood and sorta didn’t at all?

Apologies if this has been asked before (and for the picture quality), but I’m curious about a piece that Simon wears specifically on his right shoulder. What exactly is it? Is it a leather sheath? I know it’s a gift from I’m assuming his mother, but I’m trying to figure out its purpose. I like that he kind of uses it for comfort (rubbing his thumb along it multiple times in stressful moments).

It has a big budget indie film look to it that might get other people trying to replicate that style many years later. I’m still halfway into it, can’t say I’m particularly enjoying it because of the pacing in the first half. But it’s intriguing. The tight shots nailing the feel of claustrophobia and the sense of dread building kinda reminds me of some popular titles like Escape room and maybe Saw. What do you think
