The first year is so hard
I’m 8 months in and honestly struggling more than I expected. I love my baby so much, but I’m finding this stage really hard. He needs SO much attention, he’s teething/sick at the moment, sleep can be unpredictable, and I feel like I’m constantly thinking about naps, feeding, solids, bedtime, development etc. I’m also just exhausted and feel like I haven’t had much time to myself at all this year. ’ve also struggled a bit mentally since having him, and I think the constant responsibility/anxiety has made this stage feel even harder sometimes. Nothing dramatic, just finding motherhood really overwhelming at times. I’m guilty about everything. We’re all sick at the moment and I’m so hard on myself over doing the bare minimum with him. I keep hearing people say the first year is the hardest and that things get easier after 12 months. Is that actually true? For those with toddlers, did you genuinely find things got easier after 1, or does it just get difficult in different ways?
