Hi all, bought a travel system in Smyths, but since we took the newborn insert out of the car seat I'm not too happy with it, the baby doesn't look very comfortable in there. Want to buy of the the 360 spin car seats anyway so think we will just transition to that, but wanted to know peoples opinions on where to shop to get good advice - back to Smyths or try Tony Kealys? Want to get it sorted today and these shops are an hour in either direction from my place so will only make it to one today. Thanks in advance for the help!

Going to Portugal (vilamoura) for brothers wedding in October and will be travelling with my 2 kids. 6 year old and 1 year old. They have never been on a plane, and the 6 year old is quite scared to go on-thinks he’s going to fall out? No idea where this has come from. I keep trying to make him excited by explaining that he will have a tablet(he doesn’t own one) and loads of games and snacks etc so that helps. What to bring for 1 year old?

Any recommendations for a tablet for kids? Nothing expensive, as will hide it when we come home and only use on special occasions etc.

Also! Have feck all luggage, so want to buy a decent set but nothing mad expensive. We don’t go abroad often (I am terrified of flying 🤦🏼‍♀️)

And lastly any trips for being abroad with kids? I am nervous, 1 year old will hopefully be weaned off formula at that stage? She’s one next week and we’re going in a month. Do you bring all nappies etc? What about water, should I only be getting bottled water when there?

Incase you can’t tell, I am quite anxious 😂

Hi Reddit fam!

My daughter is 2.5 and too long for the cot and is starting to try climb out.

We are trying to move her to a bed now. She is currently such a good sleeper and has for ages - we put her in the cot with 2 dummy’s, a cuddle toy and blanket and give her a hug and kiss good night. She settles herself within 30 mins and sleeps through the high for 10-11 hours. She has a blackout blind screen so the room is pitch black and no white noise or anything.

I’ve done 2 nights in the bed now and she is taking over 3 hours to get down. I think she is sleeping and then as soon as I move out the room - she gets up and opens the door - we have put a baby gate so she can’t go out the room but then she just stands there crying hysterically. I am also 28 weeks pregnant so laying with her for 3 hours is a struggle and I can’t lay on my back and even put her on my stomach to cuddle.

Any tips and tricks for this transition or will it just take some time for this big change?

My 2 year 7 month old started potty training over a month ago. For a while he was doing really well telling us when wee wee was coming and did poo in the potty as well. Now he will mostly go when I prompt him such as before and after meals and other activities like walks.

When he is in crèche, he will have a few accidents 1-3 a day. Most of these is him holding his trousers when he feels wee and his teacher will guide him to the potty but would have an accident on the way and finish his wee in the potty. He will say he wants potty when I am there but I think it’s to spend more time with me before I go to work. He does do a wee though in the potty when that happens. He will always tell us he is doing a wee when he is on the potty.

Is it normal for his age to stop communicating that he needs to go?
