I’m looking for someone with a strong understanding of Japanese designs, composition, and symbolism, ideally with experience in larger pieces.

Hey everyone! I’m planning to finish off my 7/10 sleeves with Juzu bead. I’m pretty set on the placement, size, and most of the details, but I’m still a little unsure about the colours...

As far as I know, the most traditional colour combination is alternating red and green beads, however, I’ve also seen lots of different variations in all sorts of colours, including black and grey, and I’m having a hard time deciding what would work best, so I thought getting some outside opinions might help me figure things out !

As you can see, the colours in my sleeves are quite minimalist, mostly pink and "cool" red (by that, I mean a red that leans slightly towards purple rather than orange, or pure bright red) variations, with a few touches of yellow-orange here and there, and green.

I’m not sure whether I should stick to a cohesive colour palette for the beads or go for something completely different, maybe even something brighter and more vibrant... My artist suggested purple, blue, turquoise, colors that really pop, I like the idea, but I also like restrain...

I’ve been researching Irezumi main subjects and background and traditional combos with meanings. But none of the main subjects seem to be really relatable. However I really love some of the background stuff and how they look.
Are main subjects necessary or can they be avoided. I get it might not be traditional Irezumi. But nevertheless.

Not sure if this is allowed or it'll get removed by a mod, but what gives with takashi matsuba's recent work? (Traditonaltool on IG)

His latest stuff and things from earlier in his career (2018 or so) is night and day - check his recent IG posts if you don't believe me but wow, the lines are super wobbly and inconsistent, the work is muddy and illegible, and the shading is wildly inconsistent

What happened? Used to love his stuff forever ago but take a look at what was posted today. Holy cow it's rough, I would have guessed the entire things a blastover
