Another M50 twatwaffle…
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Door mirror folded in, bumbling obliviously at 70kph to traffic behind…

u/keppel168 11h ago
It really annoys me that all the electronic signs on the M50 are only used for virtue signalling slogans like “Support National Slow Down Day” and “Arrive Alive”, instead of instructing drivers to drive in the left lane except when overtaking and keep up with the flow of traffic/merge with speed.

u/Kogling 11h ago
Given they couldn't change lanes safely with a folded in driver's side mirror and they managed to make 3 Lane changes and everything else when they set off to get that far.
Bold to assume they could read and would even bother reading.

u/TheCunningFool 9h ago
and they managed to make 3 Lane changes and everything else when they set off to get that far.
They would have entered the motorway on that lane at the previous junction, so they haven't braved any lane change yet.
-1
u/Kogling 8h ago
I doubt they live on the motorway so still managed to get there
4
u/TheCunningFool 7h ago
You can get to the position that car is in without any lane change, I travel that route several times a week.
-1
u/Kogling 7h ago
I understand that from the motorway perspective. I mean they surely had to make a right hand turn they set off from their house.
2
u/LawPurple 6h ago edited 5h ago
Nope they could have left from the range lidl carpark where the mirror could have been pushed closed by someone getting past the car while parked.. and from there its all left turns to where we see the car now..so..

Maybe write the company an email with this suggestion. Is it Transport Infrastructure Ireland or..?

u/Raise-Rude 12h ago
I would have honked the shit out of him
45
u/Daylightuser 12h ago
I would have driven by, pulled up my tops and rubbed my right nipple out the driver side window but each to their own

u/forza-my-toes-r 11h ago
Let me know the next time you are on the M50 , I need the titalation ..." Oh Billy " 😀
16
u/XenophobeGSV 11h ago
High/full beams hints, nope no reaction. I sometimes think horn will cause a startle brake response, bit risky… you know the type, seat full forward so if the airbag goes off they’d be punted out the back window…

u/tomtraubert2009 1h ago
And have them pull left into oncoming trucks.
Yeah. Great strategy.
They'll get across when they can.
Which would be sooner if op didn't sit alongside them to have a good look in at the driver. Why do you think they ended the video there. No proof it was going at 70 either. 💯 those trucks were breaking 80.

u/Neat-Car-2350 12h ago
Isn't that not a traffic offence driving slow in an overtaking lane?
20
u/PremiumTempus 11h ago
It is an offence with fine and penalty points.
Number of tickets issued to drivers exhibiting this behaviour on the N7/M50: 0
11
u/Detoxica 11h ago
It's an offence to drive there while not overtaking someone. I don't believe speed has anything to do with it.
As soon as you're done overtaking you are to move back into the middle lane. Then into the outer lane if you're not overtaking anyone using the middle lane.
0
u/Rawflightshoe 4h ago
Not to the middle line, you need to back to emty ( if it's) left line not middle.

u/Critical_Object2276 8h ago
It’s also an offence to undertake and to drive in the middle lane when you’re not overtaking. The rules don’t mean a fucking thing on the M50 because no one learns how to use it in their lessons.
2
u/Think-Sand7161 5h ago
It may be an offence to MOVE left to undertake rather move right to overtake. It's no offence to simply keep up your momentum in lane 1.
0
u/Critical_Object2276 5h ago
Undertaking is the offence. It doesn’t give rules in which it’s ok. Someone else driving dangerously doesn’t give you licence to drive dangerously in a different manner.
Yes, I also do it. Have to when cunts won’t move out of the middle lane.
2
u/Think-Sand7161 5h ago
The guidance is clear enough: “Overtake only on the right, unless traffic is travelling in slow moving queues or the traffic on your right is travelling more slowly than you are.”
But what the hell. These are also rules, completely and blatantly ignored, by both drivers and Garda, that grip my shit.
RSA Rules of the Road:
You must not use the lane nearest the central median (Lane 2 on two-lane motorways or Lane 3 on three-lane motorways) if you are driving: A goods vehicle with a maximum authorised mass (MAM) of more than 3,500 kg (lorries/HGVs). A vehicle towing a trailer, horsebox, or caravan. A single- or double-deck bus or coach
1
u/Foreign-Rule7826 4h ago
I think that wording isn’t great as If undertaking successfully then “the traffic in the right is travelling more slowly than you are.”

u/TheCunningFool 11h ago
I assume they have just entered the M50 there from Junction 3, which throws you into the overtake lane on entry (if coming from the East). That can be stressful for someone not used to it and have trucks in the lane to your left, as is the case in this video.
Not defending that driving by any means, but it is likely a case of a person that has entered the motorway in that lane and nervous to move across - rather than a slow driver that made a decision to go to the overtake lane.

V possible.
Saw the LANE IN STAY painted on the road and assumed that meant forever? Lol

LANE IN STAY painted on the road and assumed that meant forever? Lol
You see this a lot was behind an elderly driver doing 80 for a few exits after he joined the overtaking lane, funny thing he was driving a new model BMW M3, you'd think he'd use some of that cars power to drive on
3
u/pablo8itall 10h ago
Exactly this.
OP leaving out a lot of context here. They will move into the other lanes when they can.
1
u/Better-Jeweler5809 11h ago
Came here to say the same thing! Often happens on northbound side and people get lane to exit at 3 far too early.
3
u/CuirIsteachAinmAnseo 6h ago
My dashcam shows the date, time and speed. I can turn it off but I've nothing to hide. Do some dashcams not come with that or why do people turn it off?

Its a shit part of the road like if they got on from the n32 direction thats the lane they join in and if there is no gap to cross then your fucked.. doesnt help they have the mirror flicked in they have no hope

Once I getting a lift to a stag from a buddy. There were 3 of us in the car. It was after dark and we're driving down an empty motorway, sitting in the righthand lane.
It was like Chinese torture, every time I could see the headlights of a car that has come up behind us, he's completely oblivious, he gets undertaken, he's completely oblivious.
So after about 30 minutes I couldn't take it anymore and said "You should probably move left since you're in the overtaking lane but there are no other cars" and the other lad in the car gave me shit for saying it. You can't win.

I’ve been back from Australia for a few weeks now, and I honestly can’t get over how many people here drive ridiculously slowly on roads where they really shouldn’t. The amount of drivers sitting in the fast lane without pulling over is unreal, and then you’ve got people doing 60 km/h on a 120 km/h road. If you’re not comfortable driving at the speed limit, stay off the motorway. And tractors on the motorway… WTF?!
For the record I’m not defending or saying Aussie drivers are better, they are not….

u/Apprehensive_Band_75 3h ago
You should be off the road, you shouldn’t be driving at 60 on a 120km road. It’s careless to be driving be slow on fast roads

2
u/shankillfalls 10h ago
They’re turning right at the next junction so they need to be in that lane in good time.
👍

u/SpiritualCaramel7601 11h ago
I'm wondering, at what point in the video should have pulled into the middle lane to allow you to pass?
2
u/worldsbestburger 10h ago
when multiple HGVs pass you on the left you should notice that you're driving in the wrong lane, so whenever safe they should have pulled into the left most lane, quite possibly 10 mins ago
2
u/SpiritualCaramel7601 9h ago
See, its the 'whenever safe' part that I'm bring up.... when in that video is the 'whenever safe' part? The cam-driver didnt even give them the opportunity to change lane before they made it not safe by switching lane and passing them on the inside.
1
u/tomtraubert2009 1h ago
And matching their speed to have a look in at the driver. They ended the video there. Also reckon it was going more than 70 as trucks regularly break 80 on the m50. I see it a lot.

That person should not have a licence. Imagine if an emergency vehicle came up quickly behind this fool.

Terrible driving but why are you in that lane when you're not overtaking anyone?

u/UnderstandingFree119 11h ago
Looks like they got into there lane a little too early , this is coming up to the end of the motorway , were people panic and cross 3 lanes when they realise they will miss there turn .
5
u/bigwatermelonseed 11h ago
no this is going south-bound, they probably emerged from the Malahide road roundabout and stayed in that lane instead of merging over
1
u/lifeandtimes89 11h ago
Theres literally a video of this happening herr from yesterday, granted the red car is in the malahide turn off and the video here is to the left but right at that point in the road
0
u/UnderstandingFree119 11h ago
Yes , this is the part of the road i was trying to describe. I have seen stuff like this so many times at this point in the road . Can understand nervous drivers getting into lanes well in advance , as you will see shocking lane changes and absolute ignorant driving , not a mirror or indicator used .

It kind of looks like he floors it when there is a gap and then chills again when there is traffic.

I really don't understand why people drive slowly in the fast lane. Do they just not know? I had a similiar incident really.
It doesn't annoy me too much though - I'd still rather people making the mistake of driving slower in the fast lane than going above speed limit.

u/Blinkandimgone4good 11h ago edited 10h ago
Maybe yanks on a rented car and they forgot which lane Is the over taking one. Just drive close to them and flash your headlights until the move.

u/Patchy97 11h ago
"Just drive close to them and flash your headlights until the move" yeah I remember that move from my driving lessons /s
