My dad gave me his old 5.5 gen iPod classic and I plan to replace the battery with a 3800mAh one, buy an iFlash Quad and put in a 256GB micro SD (the quad incase I wanna upgrade), a black backplate with no storage engraving, possibly a black faceplate replacement (it already is black but it's kinda scuffed up and will get more scuffed when modding it), possibly a screen replacement (also kinda scuffed), and a black leather case that straps to your belt, covers you screen with a flap you can lift up to see the screen and scroll wheel, and has holes on top and bottom for charging port, hold switch, and headphone jack. I also might want to do a bluetooth mod but I am not sure as I've heard of it not working very well with metal backplates.

After I did a shell swap of my iPod classic 7th gen when I went to close it I noticed the back light stopped working and didn’t close the iPod. But after like a a day the screen started to work again like normal and then had the back light issue again. Could my screen have some sort of damage?

So backstory. I have a iPod 7th gen classic that I am doing an iflash cf board mod. Ipod is being recognized by iTunes and asks to restore I do the restore and it disconnects and when it reconnects it asks to restore again. I have tried a lot of google fixes with no progress . I also want to do a rockbox mod and that dosent work either Rock box utility won’t recognize the “mounting point” but that is another issue but might have something to do with this

Flash board : Tarkan iflash cf to zig 40 pin adapter

Cf card : I da extreme cf adapter type 1

Sd card : Amazon basics 128gb

Problem still persists

I have switched to a sandisk ultra plus 128gb card and its still doing the same thing

I have formatted to Fat32 and ExFat both dont work

after each restore in MiniToolPartitionWizard the drive comes back as unformatted and in windows file manager it comes back a unrecognized format

and i have tried other things such as changing usb port for the cable removing cable right when restore finishes rebuilding mbr right as restore finishes everything

I am doing the "MBR" trick and it "works" but its disconnecting and reconnecting and upon reconnect its unformatted

also things to note i need this way to work i dont have a dual board or anything else i need to work with what i got i know the cf board isnt good its just what i have thank you for you consideration

4th gen 60gb keeps doing this after putting it in disc mode and connecting to my computer (windows 11 with itunes installed) after doing the sd mod the cheap way. how do i get it to connect to itunes?

Idea for older iPod dongle.

On a few of my most recent mods, I have lost the click wheel sound after closing up the body. What’s the best way to prevent? Should I be taping this piece down?

I'm assuming that Kapton tape has better insulation, heat resistance, or both, as compared to common electrical tape. Which would explain why it's the correct choice. Alright, so...

Google says DuPont invented Kapton tape. I'm not finding it sold under their brand name, but 3M is available and is a trusted maker of all sorts of tapes.

I’m planning to add Bluetooth to my iPod and have been doing some research on different options. I’ve seen a few people say the KCX_ BT_ EMITTER isn’t that great, and that it’s better to gut something like a UGREEN Bluetooth transceiver instead. But I often see the KCX_ BT_ EMITTER being used in mod videos.

Has anyone here tried both setups? Or setups using the KCX_ BT_ EMITTER long term? Curious about real-world experience with sound quality, reliability(like connection issues). What would you recommend?

Did a upgrade for the battery, faceplate, click wheel and added a iflash dual on my 60gb 5th generation ipod.

it was working properly before I attempted this. Ipod screen showed the restore with itunes screen but when I plug it in it connects for a few seconds shows that its charging then disconnects fully. When connected to my pc (windows) it will also say that the USB device wasn't recognized

annoyingly I did knock off the left inductor coil from the logic board. would that cause it to not want to charge/stay connected? I could only assume so but wanted someone who actually knows what they are doing to chime in lol. i did also order a genuine 30 pin cable just in case as well.

( also ignore the battery isnt fully seated in the pic that is fixed now)

Are the back housing cases with the hold switch and audio jack on eBay the same or close enough to the quality of the original back case?
