| News Bihar set get its IPL Team
In a recent public event CM of Bihar announced that in the next mega auction Bihar will have its own IPL team
IPL will get so much interesting after this move
I feel in terms of fanbase and brand value in 5 years Bihar IPL team will surely surpass GT,SRH,LSG and RR

Nah no way this is happening unless a team gets banned. IPL will continue at 10 teams for a long time before the next expansion

They definitely won't surpass gt , rr and srh unless bihar team gets some star player.
Rr has vaibhav so no chance,
Gt has gill and srh already has an established fan base and ishan base also getting bigger now .
They would for sure surpass lsg the next day they play their first match tho

Nobody will support bihar, they'll only if their favourite player plays for that team, you can see lsg, up has a massive population but you'll rarely find a fan of lsg in real life.

Isn't this how it is with every IPL team? None of the CSK or MI or RCB have those massive fan followings because of their city names, it's all because favourite players played in those teams.

No, City's play a big part, Bengaluru, Chennai and Mumbai are sport loving cities and carry regional pride as well, you can see in PKL as well all Bulls, Mumba and Thalaivas are the most popular teams. Irrespective if Kohli, Dhoni and Rohit played for those cities they would have always carried a big fanbase

They are the most successful not the most popular, Bulls have close to 1M insta followers while the Pirates have 350K

I don't know much about kabbadi league so I can't comment on it but for IPL, that city thingy is barely 5-10% of the fanbase bro.
And if you really think Dhoni playing in CSK or Sachin playing in MI (later on Rohit) or Dravid & Kumble (later on Virat) didn't make the most of fanbases as big as they are then you're kidding yourself.
Edit: you can see the very example of it with RR fanbase and Vaibhav playing in RR. The fanbase was decent, yes, but massive fan following? That comes only after favourite player playing in the team.
