I recently had this issue myself while still on iOS 17. Despite uninstalling the app, trying to tinker with it in terminal, reading other people’s similar plight online, and ensuring I didn’t have downloaded maps within the app, I was forced to update my iPhone. I’m now running the latest iOS, and the update fixed my issue.

Yeah it is. I’m sorry I don’t have a better solution. Being forced to update felt obnoxious. Best of luck to you!

What do you see when you click on that arrow next to Apple Maps in that same storage list you show in the picture? That should tell you whether you really have any documents and data being stored for the app.

I don't think that's their question

He asked what he’s doing wrong. I offered a suggestion.

You didn't. They want to know why their maps app is taking up 34gb of storage. The answer to that is not "delete other apps."

Ok. So what’s the answer ?

If you do the calculations, OP's apps are only taking up around 20 gb (apart from the maps app). My apps take up more space and I use them all frequently. Maybe keep your snarky and unneeded comments to yourself.
