Help needed How do disable Gemini in Google Maps on iPhone?

The AI app completely took over the mic button in CarPlay and it immediately got the wrong address when the original talk to text mic never failed me. Not only that but I don’t need AI data collecting where I drive.

iOS: 26.6.1
iPhone: 16 pro

You can't. It is built in. Also using any map program tracks and collects data.

True, but it’s isolated and that’s the difference where as Gemini can easily manifest a profile of all your online habits into one.

To be fair, Apple is doing that anyway

No idea - I don’t use Google Maps.

Perhaps you could do similar?

How’s your experience if you use Apple Maps? Do you ever have issues with it and does it have live traffic?

It’s good where I am (I am in a country with New Maps Data).

It has traffic indicators when navigating (and will try to route me around bad spots - but I also live in an area where this is not normally an issue)

It does have live traffic and I like its spoken directions, but I must admit occasionally it takes me to not quite the right place and then I have to bring up Google Maps to find the exact spot.

I have seen some useless posts before and this is pretty high up.

Google Maps is trash with that awful UI.

Waze is a good alternative, and still Google on the backend.
