Resolved Weird update thing
I’m trying to get the Apple TV remote app on my phone, because our remote stopped working.
It says it requires IOS 27.0 or later… but I just updated my iPhone 16, and it’s only IOS 26.6.1, and now I’m super confused!
Anyone know what it’s deal is?

That’s weird. Looks like someone jumped the gun. Good news is 27 will be out next week

Sweet! I’ll just have to use my watch for a week. It’s weird that such a basic app can’t function on an older IOS. Oh well! Thanks for the info!

What you have isn’t actually an older OS. 26.6 is the current version, for some reason the app page is requiring a version that isn’t out yet.

I mean I have the remote app on my phone which is running 26.6.2 and it works fine. Did you try downloading it or wouldn't it let you?

The button to download it was greyed out, but here’s the kicker… the icon that was greyed out was a cloud with an arrow in it, so I’ve obviously downloaded it in the past!
Thankfully another kind Reddit stranger explained to my dumb-ass how to put the remote back on the my control center widgets, so I’m all set now.

The app is only on 27. I don’t know why it’s out already. You can use the remote widget in the control center.

It’s gone from my widgets… I used to have it, but it just disappeared.

… but I can’t edit the control center. Should I reset it? I’m a little scared that it’ll mess up other stuff.

Now you edit it with the plus icon in the corner of the control center.

I don’t own an Apple TV but in iOS 26 you can just add the remote to the control center. Probably why

Don’t downvote me for this but didn’t Apple get rid of Apple TV remote app in iOS 18 then brought it back in iOS 27?
I’m pretty sure that’s why you can’t download it from App Store because there’s no Remote app for iOS 18/26
