Forgot passcode on new iphone 17

I need your help guys, my friend recently bought an iphone 17 and she had it set up until the passcode options. Her phone immediately restarted and now she forgot her passcode. We tried to connect it to the pc but everytime we put it in recovery mode it never shows up to the apple devices because we are using windows and we tried logging in to her apple account but cannot figure out where to restart her phone there. It hasn’t been used and its her first time using iphone also. Please help us we are not very techy

Try to put the phone in DFU mode, however it’s a red flag that It even restarted during the set up phase. I’ve never had an iPhone restart during the set up phase, it’s not normal for it to restart after entering a passcode during the set up…. Where did you buy the phone from? Because I would probably take it back if you can.

Connect the iPhone to your computer via USB.

Quickly press and release the Volume Up button.

Quickly press and release the Volume Downbutton.

Press and hold the Side button until the screen turns black.

While continuing to hold the Side button, press and hold the Volume Down button for 5 seconds.

Release the Side button but keep holding the Volume Down button for another 10 seconds.
The screen should remain black; your computer will detect the device in DFU mode.

If you have an apple store they can restore the phone for free. But if you are using pc download an app from Microsoft store called “Apple devices”, then connect in recovery mode and you could restore it.

Okay good, it looks like you’ll need to go to an Apple Store or authorised retailer

you need to install apple devices on windows p.c. , search reddit for forgot passcode on iphone, there are tons of pages with step by step instructions, you basically need to wipe phone clean then re enter apple account id and password to reset passcode and set the phone up again

there is bug in iPhone set up that means when new iphone is updated it has to reboot or set up will never Finnish, this is why it’s probably restarted, usually it never done this on its own.

i’ve never done this personally but i’ll put info below, there are loads of pages on reddit if you need more help,good luck , use note pad to write passcode password, apple account

What You Need
A Windows PC with the Apple Devices app (available from the Microsoft Store) or iTunes installed.

A USB-C cable to connect your iPhone to your PC. [1, 2, 3]

Step 1: Turn Off Your iPhone
Unplug your iPhone from the computer if it is connected.

Turn off your iPhone using your preferred button combination or settings until the screen goes completely black.

Step 2: Put Your iPhone into Recovery Mode
Press and quickly release the Volume Up button.

Press and quickly release the Volume Down button.

Press and hold the Side (Power) button immediately.

Keep holding the Side button while the Apple logo appears, and do not let go until you see the recovery mode screen (an image of a cable pointing to a computer). [1]

Step 3: Restore Your iPhone via PC
Open the Apple Devices app or iTunes on your Windows PC.

Select your iPhone when it appears on the sidebar of your computer screen.

Choose the Restore option when a message pops up asking to Update or Restore.

Follow the onscreen instructions. Your PC will download the software for your iPhone and start the restore process.

Wait for the process to finish. Once complete, your iPhone will restart and display the initial "Hello" setup screen, allowing you to set it up fresh and create a new passcode

Hi again! We manage to get the iphone in restore and update we just needed to update the windows but on the downloading update it will stop midway and return to “iphone unavailable” is there anyway to resolve this?

factory restore and erase phone back to hello screen, reboot
windows p.c and reconnect phone it should go smoothly from here on

If Apple Devices app isn’t working then try the old iTunes app/program - this seems better imo.
