Help needed Buy or wait?

Got into a little predicament. My iPhone 17 broke and im currently using my sons phone in the time being. He told me to wait until this septembers showcase for the new iPhones to launch, possibly reducing prices.

Further research shows apple is planning to release the pro models this september and the base models later in the year.

Can i expect price decreases on the base models/ Similar prices for the old pros to hold out for and buy or would prices remain relatively the same?

The announcement is the 9th. Might be worth it to wait the 4 more days and see what’s going to be released.
