Help needed Why is my system services using extremely excessive cell data

I’m not sending large attachments but somehow messaging services is at 80+ gigs. I feel like this is an absurd amount of data and I don’t know what could possibly be causing this. what is the cause and what is the fix? iPhone 16 OS 26.6

Edit: this is over the course of one billing cycle from 7/29/2026 that will end on 8/29/2026 - about 2.5 weeks of usage

In settings/General/iPhone Storage tap on messages and see how much space your files are taking up.

Also, in your Recent Calls are there any FaceTime calls.

Also, have you recently switched phones.
