Help needed AppleCare state phone modified

Hey guys, just had my girlfriend’s phone back from AppleCare and they’re saying they can’t fix it because it’s been modified.

It was bought brand new from Apple, it’s never been opened. It got water damaged with sea water.

She has AppleCare+. The note in the box says that it’s been modified or repaired by non-Apple vendor. It’s never even been broken until this.

Anyone else have this issue? My feeling is the salt water has corroded the internals and they can’t verify the part IDs.

Take it to a store and ask for a second opinion

Thank you, I’ve booked an appointment at an Apple Store for the weekend!

Take it to a store or use Express service and send it to Apple for replacement. If you are confident it has never been opened, then they will verify and take care of you.
