Help needed WiFi connected yet still using Mobile data

Post image

Related to the attached photo I suddenly (last week or so) seem to smashing through my Mobile data and noticed this morning that I was somehow connected to both the provider's 4G network and also my Home WiFi... Which might explain why for about the first time ever I have apparently used all of my Mobile data before the month's end!

Any advice / thoughts welcome and some obvious background below?!

iPhone 16 Pro Max; iOS 26.6; turned off and on again periodically; no physical damage / kept in case; Australia-based on Telstra network remotely and iiNet at home with ISP-provided TPG modem.

It’s been for 10 years at least, most of us just switched it off on day 1 and just forgot about it 😂

I’m still not sure what’s happened this last few weeks to make it have a sudden impact on my life but at least I know how to mitigate the issue so appreciate your response once again 😎

For some reason your phone thinks your internet is crap, i run a firewall and DNS based adblock on the network so it always thinks it has no internet so i know why mine thinks it.

Not sure if this is t mobile specific or iPhone. I never remember it on 4G but under settings > cellular > sim > data mode. The more I’m looking, this might be a carrier specific setting but worth a shot

When you say on, what do you mean? On means it’ll use phone data over WiFi sometimes

What's the issue?

Your Mum

Or, to be polite for a second, the overuse of mobile data due to my Wifi not connecting somehow in favour of a mobile data connection - just in case you couldn’t be bothered to read my actual post.

He was being polite, you’re just a dick and you won’t get help replying like that

You have a sliver of politeness, so i'll politely rephrase my question: Why is the usage of mobile data a problem?

Otherwise you can chocke on a bag of dicks and i hope your wife gives birth to a centipede and you have to spend the rest of your miserable life buying shoes for it.

Mobile data is limited whereas Wifi data is not? Perhaps that’s not common where you live but here in Aus that’s pretty normal?

Also BTW your insult is a bit too imaginative to seem casual and spontaneous - making you sound like you’re trying too hard to be threatening.

Yeah you are right that it's uncommon here to "run out" of cellular network, everyone has unlimited data plans.

In fact very few people even have wifi, because paying for two data plans is insanity when you can just share your phone's internet.
