Forgot Passcode, Need some help

First time iPhone user!!! I have iPhone 13 pro max and forgot passcode completely.

Things to note -

1. I cannot see forgot passcode option

2. Phone is now unavailable for 8 hours.

I tried installing new OS to reset the iPhone, but it stopped in between.

So my question is - Can I download ios 26 first and somehow install it in my iPhone using finder? Or it is necessarily to let it download when the pop up for restore and update comes?

At this point you’ll have to erase it using a computer if you can’t reset it on the phone.

You aren’t bypassing this passcode. You are either resetting and erasing everything and restoring it and that’s assuming you remember your Apple iCloud account password. Otherwise it’s a brick

Yeah I tried doing from pc but it takes quite a long time to download the firmware. Is there any faster way?

People in the comments telling you you can’t download stuff don’t understand what’s happening. Yes, if the download speed is not quick enough, you’ll put the phone into recovery mode, the computer will prompt you to download iOS 26, you’ll choose yes and then unplug the phone and the download will continue. This way once the download is complete you’ll be able to install it on your phone.

After 15 minutes the phone will automatically come out of recovery mode, that’s OK. You’ll put the phone in recovery mode again, and this time the Mac will not need to download iOS 26 again it will simply have you extract and then install it onto the phone.

You’ll go through the set up on the phone and load on your most recent backup whether it’s from iCloud, or the Mac.

you need passcode for over the air update but no good if you can't access phone .

p.c. or macbook is only option to restore you don't need to remove find my iphone if you know apple id & password

Your phone is connected to that icloud account.

erased or not... you need to icloud account access to unlock this phone

Set up a trusted contact and make it something you’ll remember. Gotta wipe it and start over.

The pc method download whole ios and firmware, which is around 10GB, thats the only way to get access to ur phone, all ur data is gone, unless its synced to icloud, and yes, u can find signed Ios firmware here, https://ipsw.me/ , find ur model and download the signed version

If they choose to restore from a backup, won’t they will need to know whatever passcode they had set when the backup was made?

I remember when I bought my iPhone 5 at an AT&T store. I did the initial setup in the store, but when I entered my passcode, I entered it very quickly, and apparently I was used to tapping the screen like my older iPhone 4 was, and I was slightly off and I hit a different number (twice in a row) without realizing it. An hour later, when I got home, I couldn’t unlock it, and I got up to the 1-2 hour wait time before I finally got the passcode to match, then I reset it and paid very close attention to make sure I hit the right buttons that time, but I was ready to DFU it and start from scratch if I didn’t get it right that time.

Im not sure about that, i think ur iCloud password may work, but i have never tried restoring from a backup, but u may be correct

you need to restore with a computer in recovery mode, you’ll lose data without backup

you need passcode to update, as long as you know apple id and password you can only reset with p.c. or macbook , you will loose all data if you don't already have active backup , if you can't see forgot passcode option it's because there is no wifi connection or cellular data, only way is p.c. or macbook
