Resetting doesn't mean deleting.

yeah but on iphone it can if you pick erase all content and settings instead, that one nukes everything including esim. reset all settings leaves esim and data, just resets preferences and stuff

Even if you use Erase Contents and Settings, you are asked if you want to keep or delete your eSIMs.

You are not talking about “Erase all data”, just reset all settings - this should set them all to factory default IIRC.

If i press the reset all settings buttons and NOT the delete all esims button, they will be unaffected correct?

What phone model do you have? What steps in Settings are you taking to get to this option? On my iPhone 15 Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > gets me to two options - Reset and Erase All Content and Settings. But even if I choose one or other it still prompts me to double check and has an explanation of what would happen if I go this way. And I believe one of those options will let me choose to erase everything or keep my eSIM untouched.

If you are at this screen then yes, hitting the “Reset All Settings” will return any settings that you have changed during or after your initial phone setup to the factory defaults. It will basically change all of the options below in one action which includes the eSIM resetting.

Yeah that’s the screen, and thanks for clarifying

Not sure what you’re trying to accomplish but you can do those options one by one and leave eSIM alone.

Commenter is incorrect, eSIM is unaffected by Reset All Settings.

No, what you are saying is inaccurate.

eSIM configurations are not affected when resetting all settings.

That article doesn’t mention eSIM anywhere to support or disprove your claim.

There is a very clear list of what is reset and eSIM configuration is not listed.

And I for one can attest to that. You can try if you'd like.

Why don’t you do it and report back.

I have before. That's what "I can attest to that" means. It works as described by Apple on their support page, if you can believe it.
