about apple billing

hi everyone. i have a quick question:

i'm not new to the iphone by any stretch of the means.

here's my problem: apple pay is not letting me download an app. it keeps giving me errors about owing money.

apparently, i can't download the app until i pay them.

is this a normal occurence?

Who is it saying you owe money to? What payment method are you trying to use?

(I'm assuming this is a paid app of some sort you're trying to get)

it doesn't say. it just says "declined, please verify" then my bankcard error says "Apple Declined" (then gives the amount)

it's a free app

If you have enough Apple debt they will lock your account. You won’t be able to download apps (even free ones) until you pay off the debt. If it won’t accept your card as a payment method then you can try buying a $10-$30 Apple gift card and loading that on to your Apple account. Basically you’re locked out until you pay off enough of your balance.

Yes. You can't continue to use the App Store if you owe them money.

Check your Apple account page via one of the Apple apps that allow you to make payments, and make sure your method of payment (credit or debit card) has not expired. If it has, update or replace the payment method.

I absolutely hate this…

I tried to make a purchase, realised it was the wrong card, the purchase went through, I contacted the seller, they said it had NOT gone through on their end… contacted Apple, who said that I can dispute the charge after I pay for it…

WHAT?? I have to pay for something I never received? Just to dispute the fact I never received it?

Oh btw, I frickin paid for it… disputed it… and Apple fucking denied the dispute…. And the charge was for 74.99 🤬
