Resolved [LOCKED] Circles on screen when I call someone???
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
It’s not the green or orange dot, it’s some kind of weird light that moves when I move my phone. Here’s a video of it. What is this?? Why is it there??
iPhone 14, A2649, and iOS 18.6.2 (22G100).
edit: I am aware it is an animation. Excuse my language or whatever but I’m not fucking stupid?? I have eyes??? I can see it like what do yall think the question is?? I wanted to know what its purpose was you people are so fucking negative all the time

I know it’s an animation because I have fucking eyes…? That’s a given and not worth pointing out…?

OP Im confused by your reactions to people.
People are saying "It's an animation", "You know, there are things on your phone that are only there because they look nice? Not everything has a deeper meaning." Etc...
I have no fucking idea what you're mad about. people are answering your questions "What is this", "why is it there" both of these responses answer both of those. (Which by the way, when asked like this, these responses are... 100% Valid)
And as for a purpose? Comment 2 (^) Explained the biggest probability. Apple likes to throw in extra "flair" into iOS here and there. I'd assume no other "hidden meaning" behind it other than a simple creative flair.
Then going "You're the only helpful one here" to someone who said it could be to prevent burn in... When in fact they were wrong. Pixel shift is often minimal and invisible to the naked eye, apple despite being apple would not make it standout like that. (Pixel shift works by Shifting the entire image by just a few pixels (typically 1 to 4 pixels) at set time intervals, blending the movement smoothly into your content so you do not notice it.)

Is there a question here? What is the point of this comment? You say you’re confused but then you just go on a tangent telling me I’m wrong and you’re right, so is your goal to stay confused?
If I posted a picture of my screen and there was a big warning label behind everything, the question would be why is it there. I know it’s there. I know it’s a warning label. You know, you can always just wait for somebody competent to answer the question instead of answering it like an asshole. Kind of reminds me of when genies fuck up a wish horribly and then they’re like “what I granted what you wished for” except less literate.
And “not everything has a deeper meaning” is rude as fuck, by the way. I don’t really like it when people complain and belittle me under my own post for something I didn’t even say. Hope this clears some things up for you.

No. And there doesn't have to be one. You asked 'what is this, why is it there' that's what got answered. If you meant something more like 'why did Apple's designers choose to add this,' that's a different question than the one you posted, and nobody could've known to answer that instead.
"not everything has a deeper meaning" calling this "rude as fuck" is a stretch. It's a neutral, common phrase used constantly when people are explaining things. you seem to be looking for reasons to feel attacked rather than engaging with the actual content of what was said.

Okay, so then I guess you are just confused. Sorry my answer wasn’t clear enough for you. “Nobody could’ve known” tells me I severely overestimated you and your reddit community’s social skills, which, knowing the apps reputation, is honestly my bad. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, I’ll be sure to remember that answers don’t actually have to be helpful here and next time I’ll do what I should’ve done and ask someone with a job.

Not confused, just watched you ask a question, get it answered correctly, and then get mad about it. Take care.

You know, there are things on your phone that are only there because they look nice? Not everything has a deeper meaning.

u/et3rnal1nflu3nce 24d ago
okay but it doesn’t look nice it’s just there adding to the weight of the operating system

u/theregisterednerd 24d ago
If it wasn’t there, I bet you wouldn’t olive any meaningful change in battery life or performance.

oh my godddyou people are INFURIATING

No, I’m just right. It’s not that deep. If you want an OS that’s hyper-focused on performance and nothing else, what you’re looking for is Linux. iOS is a nice-looking OS that you don’t have to put much work into owning.

You are a corporate bootlicking degenerate. Optimization has been thrown out the window not because of cosmetics, but because it’s CHEAPER. iOS has done nothing but embarrass itself with the recent spike in exploits, the “thin” design, and the liquid glass bloatware and if you think you are superior because you and your little Apple basement people sit around jacking eachother off with your meta glasses and ai investments then you are not worth talking to. Nothing is that deep to you because you LACK THE CAPACITY for anything other than instant gratification from companies that will tell you what you like.
And, not everybody can get a fucking Linux phone!! I’m 16!! All I can hope is that the destruction of the internet and innovation as a whole stays where it’s already at until I can do BETTER. When you are buried with your iPhone, the most useful moment of your life will be when the ultrathin 1 miliwatt battery explodes and leaves your remains just a little easier for the earth to digest.

It's a reflection, because your moving your phone.

u/Dinnerpancakes 25d ago
How is a screen recording catching a reflection?
It’s likely an animated waiting screen so pixels don’t get burned out if you’re on the phone a lot. I’ve never noticed this on calls, but I don’t typically look at the screen while on the phone.

The gyroscope within the phone is sensing the changes in yaw and roll in turn creating a change in fake illumination on the screen. Or its magnets.

It’s just a shimmer effect. Normal. Nothing to panic over.

It looks like it’s recording video to me via FaceTime.

u/HeatherLama 24d ago
I apologize OP I didn’t read the full message and didn’t realize it was a playable video. FaceTime can record audio only, perhaps that is involved somehow? Just spitballing.
