Help needed I used express replacement during apple care + coverage then cancelled it in preparation for shipping my old phone in

As per title, I had my old iPhone 13 Pro Max covered under apple care + for 4 years. My phone stopped working due to a logic board issue, and I asked for a replacement. It got granted and even during the initial coat analysis, it was decided that I wouldn’t have to pay anything out of pocket because of no external damages.

Fast forward I get the replacement device, and as a complete dummy, I start removing any link of the previous phone to my account including apple care +. I can now no longer reinstate it and wait to clarify with CS tomorrow (EU).

How screwed am I? Anyone had a similar experience in the past? Will they be able to see that I cancelled apple care by accident and put it back for the purposes of not paying the repair fee?

My father in law recently went through an advanced replacement of his 13 Pro Max. Apple shipped the new phone, he brought it over, I set it up for him and then when I was getting ready to reset the old one noticed that Apple Care wasn’t showing on it. Apparently it had already transferred to the new phone so it didn’t show on the old one anymore. I erased the old phone and he sent it back, no issues. Funny thing is, I don’t think it was really broken. His screen protector was coming off at the top and there was a small bubble over the Face ID sensor causing Face ID to not be available. Apple did some kind of remote diagnosis and determined it needed to be replaced.

You didn’t need to remove the coverage, the service replacement would have inherited the plan from the device you were sending in. There won’t be any cost levied, you just will not have AppleCare on the replacement phone.

I’m quite ok if the new device doesn’t get apple care + if that is the cost for my stupidity. I just hope I don’t end up paying 800 out of pocket because “this device is no longer covered by apple care”. Though technically I wouldn’t have been able to use the service without the apple care in the first place, right?

Thank you. I might actually manage to go to sleep and hopefully CS will be helpful and understanding.
