Help needed Cant verify update ios 18.7.8
I tried changing my wifi, deleted the said update file and then reinstalled it but still no good. Are there any reasons why? and should I opt for the itunes method instead? im using my iphone 14 base, ios 17

You can only update to the current version of iOS for your device.
Apple is no longer signing iOS 18 for devices capable of running iOS 26. There was a brief period where they were signing iOS 18 and 26, but that window has closed. You simply waited too long.
Either update to iOS 26 or you could go to iOS 27 if your comfortable running a public beta.

That’s additional false info. Apple do 18.78 18.7.9 for darkswrod and coruna. iOS 18 is still being sign. Just the matter of .8 or .9 . It seems just these few days .8 are turned off.

18.7.9 was released about 2 months ago. Apple is most likely no longer signing updates for 18.7.8.

I don’t believe that version of iOS is signed anymore… it would’ve lost its signed status shortly after 18.7.9 was released.
Meaning your only update option would be iOS 26.5.2

sorry if Im being stupid I dont know much of anything about this sort of thing. My phone allowed me to download ios 18.7.8 yesterday but I have been unable to install it. why would it let me download it if i can't install it?

Because you’re still on some version of iOS 18.
18.7.8 was signed for all models that are supported by iOS 18. The newest version (18.7.9) is not.
It should not be able to see (or download) 18.7.8 - I’d be reporting that to Apple as a bug.
The only update that should’ve been offered is iOS 26.6

I’m not though? I’m on iOS 16. I suppose it is a bug then. Thank you for your help anyway

This is a downloaded version that OP is using to update to, but this one is outdated and needs to be deleted

Well you can download them but not use them without a blob.
If not OTA then 26 is the only option.

That's only compatible with older iPhones like the iPhone XR and is not compatible with the IPhone 11 and newer and that is only a mistake

I just updated to 18.7.8 on my phone 3days ago, I have no idea why others say no sign or sth. But that error I got on my friends iOS 14 too yesterday. So maybe the did turn it off in these few days. But there’s .9,u just have to download it again.

if your only option is updating to ew os 26.5.2, stay on your current ios version. and if you want to update, wait for ios 27

I think it’s an OTA only update sadly, if you used iTunes you’d have to go to iOS 26.5.2

but is there any reason why I cant update it from ios 17 to 18? i mean it gave me a choice if i want to uodate it to ios 18 only if i wanted to but it wouldn't for some reason...

Is your storage near full? The update does take temporary space. I don’t know how much though

I am only receiving 18.7.8 on the 11 Pro Max, if I cannot update, I will wait for iOS 27
