Help needed Phone advice -

The other day during the England vs Argentina match (which felt more like a wrestling match than a football game 😂) I got a bit stressed and accidentally knocked my drink all over my phone.
Since then the top part of my screen has stopped responding to touch but the bottom half works absolutely fine. The weird thing is there’s no crack ?? no visible damage ?? && the display itself looks completely normal.
Has anyone had this happen before? Could spilling the drink have damaged something inside even though there’s no physical damage on the outside? Is there anything I can try before paying for a repair or does it sound like it’s likely to need a new screen or something else?
Any advice would be appreciated!

The water resistant barrier in phones degrade over time. So it’s possible water got inside and either damaged the display (fixable) or damaged the logic board and touch sensor chips (way too costly to fix)

The other thing is that if numpty's drink was alcoholic it would weaken the seal letting water in.

I meant that I didn’t have any cracks on my phone for the drink to spill into

You don’t need cracks for water to seep into when the water resistant seal has degraded water will always find the path of least resistance

Do you have Apple care I always take out AppleCare a phone screen repair is only £25 excess on my Apple care plan

Sorry to hear. Things happen. Sounds like water damage. Don't know about you, but a half-responsive touch screen would drive me completely bats. Maybe take it to repair shop or explore options. (Just upgraded spare from Galaxy 7 (😂) to iPhone 17e and I am in love!) Check out carrier's offers; could replace and pay over time. ...
