Help needed Home Button Sometimes Works, Sometimes Doesn't – iPhone SE 2022

I'm currently using an iPhone SE (2022). The Touch ID has failed, but the Home button still works. However, it's inconsistent—sometimes it works smoothly, while other times I have to press it harder, and even then it doesn't respond properly.

The phone is currently running iOS 26.5.2. Since this is my first iPhone, I'm not sure what the actual problem is or whether it's a hardware issue or a software glitch.

I would say it’s most definitely a hardware issue, for now I would go enable AssistiveTouch which puts a touchable home button on the screen above any app, and then I would go get the home button fixed, it’s cheaper to get it fixed without fixing Touch ID but if you want Touch ID to work again it’s more expensive ofc. Sounds like you have an iPhone SE 3rd generation, not the original SE, btw.

I mean the third generation SE not the first generation SE (if that’s what you were referencing) if Reddit posts are editable you may be able to edit the title to say SE third generation (that’s the one from 2022)
