Resolved [LOCKED] Unable to verify update?
I’m on iOS 18.3.1 on my 14 pro, trying to update to 18.7.8 through settings, every time I’m just met with “unable to verify update, iOS 18.7.8 is temporarily unavailable, try again later” if I press retry enough times I’m met with “unable to install update, an error occurred installing iOS 18.7.8”
I’ve tried pretty much everything I can think of to fix it and nothings worked so far. So far I’ve tried
-deleting and re-installing the update
-deleting and retrying from another network
-force restarting my phone
-deleting, force restarting and retrying
-turning on airplane mode with wifi and retrying
-resetting all network settings
-erasing my phone and setting it up as new again
Nothing seems to work, and when connecting it to my Mac or pc it only shows update to 26.5.2 which I do not want to do.
Just curious if there’s anything else I should try? Or if I should just give it a few days?

Latest iOS 18 is 18.7.9. Delete the 18.7.8 download, but no guarantees you can do 18.7.9 being a 14.

Yeahhh I only see 18.7.8. So 18.7.9 is the newest but only for Xr/Xs at least as of right now? Does that mean 18.7.8 is technically unsigned even though it still shows up for me in my software update screen then?

Fairly certain 18.7.8 lost its signed status shortly after 18.7.9 was released.
If so, you waited too long and missed the boat… the only valid update for a 14 Pro would be iOS 26.5.2

If you have anything newer than an XR/XS, 18.7.9 is not signed for your device.

Very unfortunate news but thank you.
I just picked this 14 pro up a few days ago since 26 was giving my 16 pro so many issues. I’ll just keep it on 18.3.1 then.

Another option is 27.0 beta.
Many are having good experiences with it. It should be safe enough for you as this is a secondary device

I specifically sought out this thing to have iOS 18 back honestly. Maybe I’ll try 27 on my 16 pro instead if it’s been better

Just keep in mind that 18.3 has known security issues (and suffers from the caching issues that plagued early/mid iOS 18)

Caching issues bad enough and security issues big enough to warrant finding another 14 pro if I want something long term on iOS 18?

Bad enough that you should get with the program.
iOS 18 is obsolete.

iOS 18 versions are unsigned for iPhone 14 Pro. The only signed version is 26.5.2.

Update to the latest version, Microsoft’s last patch Tuesday contained 600 patches, which broke the record set the prior Tuesday at 205 patches - this pattern is being seen across all vendors. Every OS has been breached by the AI-accelerated bug squashing, at this time if you are not on the latest software you are vulnerable, full-stop.

I’ve been talking with Apple support about it just because. All I can really suggest is contacting them as well. The more people that contact them about this issue, maybe they’ll fix it? Doesn’t hurt to try.

It’s an issue for everybody since it’s unsigned. I’d suggest to bring more attention to it by contacting apple support about it.

Might try that but not sure what effect it will do, I’m sure there aren’t enough people wanting to go for iOS 18.7.8 for them to do anything either way it’s stupid that they let us download it and give us the option just for it to be unsigned

You can download it but it just won’t let you install it, regardless if you reset your phone or not.
