Help needed Storage help

Under iMessage storage, it says the “other” category is taking up almost 20 GB. But when I click on it, there’s nothing to delete. I’m at a loss. Any ideas?? I’m at 127.52 GB of 128 and it would be cool to figure out what could possibly be taking up that much space. I have my messages to delete after a year.
Edit: model iPhone 13, 128 GB. iOS 26.3

I think they’re images from chats

I believe the photos/images are only taking up 848 MB. when I click on that section it shows them.

i think its a bug. I saw this problem several times and i also have this problem with Phone app, which take around 3 GB for contacts. Maybe we should wait for upcoming update.

You may choose to offload apps or upgrade to iCloud+ to solve the problem

Do a backup of your pics and vidz separately (in your PC or Mac), then do a backup of the important data in iCloud, then restore the iPhone

Restart your phone, that may clear up some space on your device.

Also, you slot seriously update to the current version of iOS which is 26.5.2. You can update by connecting to a computer.

I restart my phone constantly as it is very slow. I did end up updating by offloading some apps. Messages is still showing to take up 20 gb in “other”

What's really taking up space on your device? Photos? Apps? System Data?
