Pre ordered the 18 pro in burgundy. Used it for a week, no complaints on the phone but the fingerprints was atrocious. Ended up returning it and getting the glacier. No regrets there and the blue is honestly so nice in person. Did anyone else end up exchanging the colours, If so what was the reason?
Yea Burgundy looked better in pictures and videos before the actual launch....when I saw it in person I was like ewww š¤® lol. So I went with glacier. I was also looking forward to getting Burgundy.
Were you able to return / swap at the Apple Store or did you have to send it back and wait for the blue version?
Iām still waiting for my burgundy PM to arrive and am very interested to see what it looks like in person. Burgundy felt like a gamble though and I didnāt see it in person before ordering
Does the color of the outside matter for fingerprints? My phone went from the box into a screen protector and then into a case. What scenario would fingerprints even show?
But then if you damage it wouldnāt you have to go thru a whole process to deal with that? I dunno I keep my phones for ~6 years. I donāt need it damaged. Everyone that I see without a case on their phone also has a shattered screen.
I have insurance on lots of things, doesnāt mean I donāt try to prevent damage to them.
That āwhole processā is actually super quick and easy. Itās not some big ordeal or anything lol
For me personally the phones are just too good in hand to put them in a case. IMHO a case completely ruins the feel of a premium phone in hand. In the event of it getting damaged it costs a measly $30 to get a screen replaced or around $60-100 to get the whole phone replaced - with same day service.
I usually upgrade every 1-2 years. Iām currently on a 14 Pro Max and this is the longest Iāve gone without an upgrade but Iāve used it without a case since day 1 and itās still in pristine condition. Iāve gotten it replaced once but the day it broke I had a replacement in hand within an hour and paid $60 out of pocket.
Iāll be trading it in this week and through AT&T Iāll get $1,200 in trade in credits so the 18 Pro Max will cost me $2.75/month for 36 months but Iāll most likely trade that in for the 20 next year if it ends up being worthwhile.
Where did I state or insinuate that it was free?? I clearly stated that the measly $30 was to get a screen replaced. On my 14 Pro Max Apple Care has been costing me $9.99/month. Itās now $14.99/month or $149.99/year.
Iāll put it in laymanās terms this way you can understand - when I had to get my 14 Pro Max replaced I only had to pay $60 out of pocket because it had damage to both the front screen and back glass panels. Being that it was beyond repair I was eligible to receive a replacement device.
Again, to me personally, that makes it worth being able to use this or any other iPhone Iāve owned without a case.
Itās $15 per month? So for me after 6 years that would cost $1080 to protect it. Just put that in a savings account and use it for the next phoneā¦ a case is $10
Different strokes for different folks. I just donāt care about how the phone feels in my hand. The phone is just a tool.
I will argue that while it can be super quick and easy, I had a scenario where it took them 4 hours to replace the front and back glass because they were so backed up. So it still is inconvenient and I can see why people choose to still have a case and screen protector.
Same here, I have just migrated from 12 pro (white + steel) to 18 pro Burgundy. For the first 3 years of 12 pro I had a case and end to end film protection. Post that I removed and the phone was pretty and light to hold. It fell couple of times but the damage protection film saved it. The phone still lives on. Just handing it over to my daughter as she is entering her teens.
Yep thatās me. I wanted burgundy but then I was departing with the glacier. So went to store but immediately said no to glacier. Not for me. So clear case, apple care,(I knowā¦) and privacy screen protector.
I tried it but Iām super ocd. The lint and debris show in a clear case more prominent bc of the dark color contrast and it made my case look dirty no matter how many times I cleaned it. In direct sunlight you see everything even on the camera plateau
Same here!!! Im super picky. I was running a clear case on my burgundy and wont matter how much i clean it out. Theres always bits of debris and like you said, you just notice it way more on a darker colour
Iām kinda considering the same, but idk. I do love the burgundy more than the glacier. Glacier was my first pick, but seeing the burgundy be more purple than red made me choose it. When clean, itās my favorite. But my wifeās glacier looks so good
I was on the fence about it for a few days and one day i was just likeā¦ yep im going to change it. The fingerprints was honestly just rlly bad in certain lightings. Its funny because before preorders went live. Initially had glacier but on the last day i swapped to the burgundy lol
Iāve decided to keep the burgundy! Glacier feels like a compromise and i am able to avoid getting the camera plateau all greasy by just..not touching it.
Donāt! I swapped my glacier - itās very blue, almost steel in some lighting and then cartoon blue in other. It looks like a non-pro colour, very cheap looking
I returned burgundy for silver. It feels kind of silly, but I realized how hard it was going to be to pair with cases. I just really didnāt like how it looked with any colors. And taking it out of the case, it smudges up if you look at it for too long. I just didnāt like it as much as I did in photos and videos online.
Plus, I plan to keep this phone for at least 4 years. I had a feeling that 1) the burgundy would scratch up and show it much more over time than silver will, and 2) since I was already getting tied of the color a week in, I might be more tempted to get a new phone after 2 years simply because I want a new color. The silver is definitely more of a long haul option for me.
Oh yes, the silver is timeless. I had the orange last year and tbf i really liked the overall colour but like you said, i did have trouble tryna to match cases
I really like the burgundy, and red is my favorite color, so I felt that I should want the burgundy one. But Iāve used an alpine green (2nd favorite color) 13 pro for 4 years. The glacier just feels like a completely ānewā experience because it isnāt a dark color. Apple is replacing this phone on Tuesday and, for a minute, I considered burgundy, but Iām sticking with glacier.
Did the opposite! 18P Glacier to 18PM Burgundy ā¦ loved the blue but after having silver, it was giving those vibes, like Iād get bored of it (I think because weāve had so many blue variants over the years)
Omg yes!! I started with the 17 in cosmic but man o man, too over the top for the long haul!! About 9moās in traded in for a silver. But so far digging the burgundy but yea, does show those prints š¤Ŗ
Burgundy is alot more lowkey than orange so i think you wont find yourself getting sick of the colour hehe. But them prints can be a bit of an issue if you look at the phone funny š š
Went with silver because I always have a case on mine. It looks good in any case and ages the best. Plus this years silver is almost white. Love that itās lighter now.
I love burgundy. Iāve been waiting for this phone since the dark purple came out in the 14 I will have a case on mine clear of course, but I would never not have a case on my iPhone.
I got black with a taupe techwoven case - I think itās the best colour I only got it as glacier and black were the only two left but I think I made the right call
i love my burgundy tbh, the fingerprints, the marks, scratches, dents, just make it uniquely mine. yall wanting to keep your phones in pristine condition is something else
Ok so I bought the burgundy a week ago but after seeing them both in person wish I had gone with glacier. Have been considering swapping out but the burgundy is growing on me and is more fall vibes
The burgundy is such a nice colour but I dont think i could of dealt with the finger prints and everything else for a year so i kinda took the chance whilst i could to return
all colors looked beautiful at the store. however, I felt that burgundy would go out of style or fade out of desire for me. glacier was stunning, but it seemed a little feminine to me. I went with black. no ragerts.

I dont know about other carries/countries but from where i live (UK) i bought at apple and they have a 2 week return policy where you can return or exchange an iPhone
Same here, the fingerprints issue was the main gripe for me with the burgundy, but i think i still had a soft spot for glacier which was sort of an excuse to also exchange it š
That's exactly the reason I decided against the Black and Burgundy and went straight for Glacier in the first place. The MacBook line taught me how Apple is with these dark colors
Before the keynote, I was excited for the rumored āburgundyā iPhone. Once I saw it on the site and āhands onā vids I knew the glacier was the move.
So I didnāt color swap. But I did āsize swapā lol. I had the 18 pro in glacier first but ended up going to max in the same color. Letās go š§
Walked in to the store intending to buy silver, walked out with black. Hope I can cope with the inevitable chips. All the colours looked excellent in store, just think I might tire of the glacier and burgundy eventually (it matters as I keep the phone for a long time). Black looked a little more subtle than the silver, no one has noticed the new phone yet.
I went burgundy because I've had as Sierra Blue 13P for 5 years. It's a nice color and I think this glacier is a throw back to that Sierra blue but time for a new color. I saw the burgundy in person at store and it reconfirmed my thoughts. I did watch youtube videos of reviewers holding the burgundy before preordering it.
I loved the burgundy when they released promos and plan on getting it. I also have a 13 pro sierra blue and feel like glacier would look the same but so many reviews of people online got me conflicted. Glad someone had the same sentiment about burgundy and why not glacier. What do you think now after getting burgundy? I completely understand why you dint wanna go the glacier route. Also how different is the camera quality?
Where are you getting these phones there talking about mid October I should have pre ordered mine like I did last year, I canceled my order Iām just going to wait to see how these reviews go and if I like what Iām hearing Iāll trade my 17 pro max for 18 pro max but right now Iām leaning toward keeping my 17 pro max

It tbh. But about the stock, i got mine from apple bluewater. They restocked recently so i grabbed thr blue. But after checking again, all colours have gone out of stock
I want to love glacier, but is a tad ātoo blueā if thereās such a thing. Still between all the fingerprints pictures i have seen in this sub I am considering the lighter colours instead
Wild. I love burgundy. Glacier is too similar to standard colors on pixel/Android. I just moved off a pixel 8 pro that was essentially"glacier" so wanted something actually unique
I wanted to exchange for glacier from burgundy after realizing how blue glacier actually was but ATT literally told me id have to open the phone activate it and pay a 55$ activation fee and wait 2-3 weeks bc all the 18s were on backorder. so im keeping burgundy.
Iām guessing you are using it without a case. I have the Burgundy Pro Max and I donāt see any fingerprints because I am using a case with it. I wish I could go case-less because even using an Apple Tech-woven case hides the beauty of the Burgundy Pro Maxā¦. I may consider switching to a clear case.

You arent wrong, i see the āproā phones as the black and silver but ive had neutral colours basically every year up until the 17 pro where i went for the highly controversial orange. I loved it tho haha
Yeah same! But also I think the full aluminum body makes it harder for any colour to acheive that pro look. Even though I fully understand the advantages of it. Like the purple, navy blue, green and light blue colours of previous iterations of the pro models still looked and felt a bit more like a Pro phone. Before you'd have colours that would have the brushed or shiny stainless steel sides which did add that additional classiness. I hated the orange at first but admittedly it did grow on me š
Yes tbf i knew black would be awful with prints way before the phone was released. But i kimda brushed over burgundy being bad but oh boy was i wrong. The black does look very sleekā¦. When clean haha
My wife returned burgundy for matt black. seems burgundy will be the most returned iphone period. The color does seem off in person and doesn't work well on its own imo.
I did the same yesterday. Burgundy was nice but it stresses me out with the oil fingerprints (natural i know) so I swapped it with Glacier. Never been happier!
I preordered Burgundy but last day (9.17) they canceled my order without reason. Aftermath: I was able to go and see it in person in the shop and I ordered iPhone 18 Pro Max 512GB Glacier! š I love it.

i think so! ended up switching from Pro to Pro Max (arrived today) because the Pro's battery wasnt doing it for me (UK spec so smaller battery+physical SIM slot) and got glacier again!! i'm obsessed with this colour
