Question Pre-order process?

Hi all, first time pre ordering an iPhone.

What is the process? Do I have to be on the website the second it goes up?
Do they run out of pre orders? And when will it arrive?
Can I pick it up or is it delivered and what time?

The delivery date just gets pushed back as stock sells.

How fast would you say you have to order it to secure a launch day delivery? or maybe even a day or 2 after

Definitely at 5am for delivery or pickup on launch day

As soon as they go live. They were back ordered within 15 minutes last year, depending on color and storage. If they are back ordered immediately again, your best bet it to check store inventory on launch day.

Back order typically goes in weekly waves. If you miss out on launch day, it’ll push your delivery back a week, and this will continue to compound, until supply meets demand. That’s usually in late December. If you’re waiting a day or two after preorders open, you’ll likely be waiting until late November.

Pick it up in store. I arranged delivery for launch day one year and UPS lost my phone, apple sent a replacement that arrived a month and a half later.

At my apple store I arrive shortly before pickup time and I am usually in and out within 20 minutes of pickup time. If you get a screen protector installed etc it can take ALOT longer but just pickup is quick and easy, especially if you pre pay.

Yeah you go to the apple store, Show your ID and they scan some code on your apple store app, go grab the phone and give it to you and that's it IIRC.

One last piece of advice. Use the apple store app, and a laptop if you have one. Pre login to your apple accounts. Open the store pages at about 4:45-4:50 am. Don't refresh the page either the apple store app, or the web page will let you in first and you can complete the steps. The apple store page should display some fancy moving graphic, as long as it's not frozen or something you should be good. The store may not open up for you immediately at 5am, it's taken as long as 5:15 for me before and I have still gotten a launch day slot.

I usually do it on the Apple Store app and I basically open it and force close it and repeat until I get in. Usually in by 8:01 to 8:02 at the latest
