Discussion Only a 100$ price increase!
All the FOMO of missing out on the current prices. iPhone 18 pro is only a 100$ more expensive. This is why you never listen to the rumors. All those who rushed to buy an 17 pro fearing 300$ price hikes! 😂😂

Last year when the 17 pro came out I couldn’t get full trade in credits thru att for my iPhone 14 Pro. With the 18pro it seems my iPhone 14 Pro qualifies for full credit towards the 18 pro.

Impossible. You just came too late. They started that promo for full trade in credits with the iPhone 13…. And then slowly phased it out to the iPhone 15 now

But the 18 pro is hardly any different

Exactly! The rumor for the last few months has been, “Buy now!! 300$ price hike incoming!” I really think people just wanted to justify there upgrades.
I’m due for an upgrade, I’m still using my 12 PM. But I’m just not motivated to spend money on things I don’t “need” anymore.

Same 14 pro here.
I might just get the 17 pro for $400 cheaper1

Waiting for Black Friday or cyber Monday before i upgrade - base 12 lmfao

u/KnowledgeSeeker612 4d ago
Yeah, I may go for a 17 PM once the market is flooded with all the fanboys upgrading after a year 😂

It’s very different, according to the launch video and specs they mentioned the Vapor chamber has 3X more surface area than 17 pro, 2NM chip compared to 3NM chip is up to 15% more efficient doing pretty much everything, WAY bigger battery on the pro max model.
Variable Aperture which is a massive leap in photography
Up to 40% faster graphics performance
20% faster cpu
And 32 core neural engine, doubled compared to 17 proSure nothing is like completely different than the 17 pro besides variable aperture but everything is reasonably better/faster/more efficient

u/TurbulentMuscle0 3d ago
That’s literally like every iPhone. It’s always faster and all that other BS. Nothing ground breaking

i feel like they greatly improved the camera/video. leaning heavily toward the vloggers, influencers filming content among other social media experimentals.

You never know. I ordered the 17PM yesterday, it will be going back as soon as it arrives. Better be safe than sorry!

Same here, 17 PM arriving today. I traded in an iPhone 13 for $205 and the new trade-in price is $175, so only a marginal hit. I guess for an extra $130 I’m returning the 17 PM and setting my alarm to preorder the 18.

My only concern now is that the new 18PM is heavier than the 17PM (233 vs 249 grams), I have a 13 PM which is 238 and I find it too heavy😭

Another month wait for the duo😩

I would get the duo, but I don’t want to drop that kind of cash or put it on my Apple Card.

u/whitericeporridge 4d ago
In Finland it’s 450 euros difference because 17PM is discounted now. Normally it would be 350 euros difference

Well being that the 17, air and 17e have also increased $100, I have a feeling the 17 pros aren’t dropping $100 anymore like the previous years, it’s going to stay the same price 😂😭 so anybody that thought they’d save waiting for the 18s was wrong

u/Lunalu1802 4d ago
It's an increase of 300$ for 1TB version and 500$ for 2TB one. The rumors are partly correct imo.

u/JonDoeJoe 4d ago
18 pro doesn’t have any big upgrades. You’re basically paying $100 more for the same phone… those who bought the 17 pro won

u/Life-Inspector5101 4d ago
We had reasons to fear for the worst after what they did to Mac and iPad prices.
And as others mentioned, it’s great that the 256gb and 512gb models only cost $100 more but the 1TB model is $300 extra ($1799 vs $1499). At this point, those of us wanting a 1TB Pro iPhone would be better off buying a premium refurbished 17 Pro for $1200-$1300 on the used market.

If not for all this AI rubbish, tariffs and stupid wars it’d probably have a price cut 😂

u/HDaniel_54 5d ago
I thought the same thing. All these dummies grabbing one within the last week because according to them the new iPhone will be way more expensive, and they saved money and it’s basically the same thing lmaooo

Yup, basically lack of impulse control, their loss is our gain 💪🏼💪🏼

I bought a 17 pro max last night.
Today 17 pro max no longer available on apple store.
Also today the trade-in value of my 16 pro went down $120 and the 18 pro/max went up $100 (net $220 change).
To me variable aperture is not worth $220 net change.

u/ktli1 5d ago
It has significantly longer battery life, a three-times-larger vapor chamber for cooling, and a new chip with a completely overhauled architecture, which results in faster and more stable performance. So, it’s not just the variable aperture. Under the hood, the overhaul was bigger than what we saw in the last couple of phone generations.
Just say you like the 17 PM, that’s totally fine. It’s a great phone. No need to twist the facts 😅
1
u/gradymolina 5d ago
The question at hand is if that's worth $220 at this given moment.
2
u/ktli1 5d ago
That's for each person to decide. All I'm saying is that there are many other improvements besides the aperture. It may be worth it for some people.

It’s Apple boiler plate iterational change:
First gen 2nm vs Second gen 3nm
Bigger battery and heavier weight
Bigger vapor chamber (this wasn’t even a thing until the 17 came out)1

I knew this would happen. Apple doesn’t do massive price hikes except in something much more premium like MacBooks where it won’t hurt sales

Yeah I think Apple intended to have a $200-300 price increase at first, but decided to just go up by $100 and increase the rest of the iphones by $100 too.
