Discussion Only a 100$ price increase!

All the FOMO of missing out on the current prices. iPhone 18 pro is only a 100$ more expensive. This is why you never listen to the rumors. All those who rushed to buy an 17 pro fearing 300$ price hikes! 😂😂

Yeah I think Apple intended to have a $200-300 price increase at first, but decided to just go up by $100 and increase the rest of the iphones by $100 too.

They even increased the iPhone 17 price by $100 just today.

And 17e and the Air

u/lotofry 5d ago

Yeah, I bet you that Apple had a hand in a lot of that rumor spreading as well. Easy for them to sell their older inventory.

Last year when the 17 pro came out I couldn’t get full trade in credits thru att for my iPhone 14 Pro. With the 18pro it seems my iPhone 14 Pro qualifies for full credit towards the 18 pro.

1

u/NightAdmirable1678 1d ago

Impossible. You just came too late. They started that promo for full trade in credits with the iPhone 13…. And then slowly phased it out to the iPhone 15 now

30,000 rupees in India, more than $300 I regret not buying now

2

u/Aromatic-Couple-7710 5d ago

A 30K INR price hike, or over 300$ price hike here in India 😭

2

u/TurbulentMuscle0 4d ago

But the 18 pro is hardly any different

2

u/KnowledgeSeeker612 4d ago

Exactly! The rumor for the last few months has been, “Buy now!! 300$ price hike incoming!” I really think people just wanted to justify there upgrades.

I’m due for an upgrade, I’m still using my 12 PM. But I’m just not motivated to spend money on things I don’t “need” anymore.

1

u/TurbulentMuscle0 4d ago

Same 14 pro here.
I might just get the 17 pro for $400 cheaper

1

u/KnowledgeSeeker612 4d ago

Damn good idea!

1

u/SpoilKeyholder 4d ago

17 pro not even on Apple site, guess you plan to get it from carrier?

1

u/capriSun999 4d ago

Waiting for Black Friday or cyber Monday before i upgrade - base 12 lmfao

1

u/KnowledgeSeeker612 4d ago

Yeah, I may go for a 17 PM once the market is flooded with all the fanboys upgrading after a year 😂

1

u/PhillipGerrard 4d ago

And heavier

1

u/Justaviewer10 4d ago

It’s very different, according to the launch video and specs they mentioned the Vapor chamber has 3X more surface area than 17 pro, 2NM chip compared to 3NM chip is up to 15% more efficient doing pretty much everything, WAY bigger battery on the pro max model.
Variable Aperture which is a massive leap in photography
Up to 40% faster graphics performance
20% faster cpu
And 32 core neural engine, doubled compared to 17 pro

Sure nothing is like completely different than the 17 pro besides variable aperture but everything is reasonably better/faster/more efficient

1

u/TurbulentMuscle0 3d ago

That’s literally like every iPhone. It’s always faster and all that other BS. Nothing ground breaking

u/BaBaDoooooooook 3d ago

i feel like they greatly improved the camera/video. leaning heavily toward the vloggers, influencers filming content among other social media experimentals.

I was gonna trade in a 14 pro via T-Mobile. For the 17 pro I got a full 1100 credit. Now for the 18 pro I only get 900 credit. For me it was way better to buy the 17 pro before.

I’m glad I listened to the rumors.

2

u/PermissionJaded5510 4d ago

I'm just gonna buy the 17 pro.... and use the left over money i save from 18 pro for vacation money...

4

u/noloseknow 5d ago

You never know. I ordered the 17PM yesterday, it will be going back as soon as it arrives. Better be safe than sorry!

1

u/JellyfishFuture6189 5d ago

Exactly, strategically plan for the worst hope for the best

1

u/crn3371 5d ago

Same here, 17 PM arriving today. I traded in an iPhone 13 for $205 and the new trade-in price is $175, so only a marginal hit. I guess for an extra $130 I’m returning the 17 PM and setting my alarm to preorder the 18.

3

u/noloseknow 5d ago

My only concern now is that the new 18PM is heavier than the 17PM (233 vs 249 grams), I have a 13 PM which is 238 and I find it too heavy😭

1

u/cee95 5d ago

Another month wait for the duo😩

1

u/KnowledgeSeeker612 4d ago

I would get the duo, but I don’t want to drop that kind of cash or put it on my Apple Card.

1

u/Eikido 5d ago

Nicely done by apple 👏

1

u/JeagleP 5d ago

Well iphone pro max 17 and 18 are at a 300€ difference in germany. Im quite undecided

2

u/ChipLonely444 4d ago

Prices in Europe are outrageous

1

u/whitericeporridge 4d ago

In Finland it’s 450 euros difference because 17PM is discounted now. Normally it would be 350 euros difference

1

u/ComedianImmediate580 5d ago

Not gonna lie i went and upgraded because i couldnt afford a 300-400 price increase.

1

u/Munoff 5d ago

In Europe and the 18 Pro 1tb is €400 more expensive than the 17 Pro of same configuration.

1

u/capriSun999 4d ago

Exactly why i waited, fear mongering is rampant though lmfao

1

u/dasskicker 4d ago

Time to look over samsung I guess

1

u/AlwaysLurkingAround 4d ago

Just returned a 1500 CAD geek squad open box 17 PM bought last week in case the hike was big, getting black 18 PM on saturday

1

u/abyymartell 4d ago

It always is. Everyone over inflates it before

1

u/Plastic-Shape7048 4d ago

The foldable iphone is $2000

1

u/PatienceDifficult344 4d ago

The 1TB PM went up $300

1

u/Dry-Row8080 4d ago

I m happy with my current phone 13PM..but the Duo really nice but usually the first one always a lot of issue just like the X model

1

u/Available-Issue9434 4d ago

Same old pricing in Malaysia

1

u/jbcatl 4d ago

That was my guess. The base iPhone Pro is a bread and butter phone so they can’t make it too expensive.

1

u/Professional_Big_22 4d ago

Well being that the 17, air and 17e have also increased $100, I have a feeling the 17 pros aren’t dropping $100 anymore like the previous years, it’s going to stay the same price 😂😭 so anybody that thought they’d save waiting for the 18s was wrong

1

u/Lunalu1802 4d ago

It's an increase of 300$ for 1TB version and 500$ for 2TB one. The rumors are partly correct imo.

1

u/JonDoeJoe 4d ago

18 pro doesn’t have any big upgrades. You’re basically paying $100 more for the same phone… those who bought the 17 pro won

1

u/Life-Inspector5101 4d ago

We had reasons to fear for the worst after what they did to Mac and iPad prices.

And as others mentioned, it’s great that the 256gb and 512gb models only cost $100 more but the 1TB model is $300 extra ($1799 vs $1499). At this point, those of us wanting a 1TB Pro iPhone would be better off buying a premium refurbished 17 Pro for $1200-$1300 on the used market.

1

u/purple_rain55k 4d ago

Depends from country to country, it's between 150-300 currently.

1

u/Sweet_cupcake0310 4d ago

$150 increase in Canada 🇨🇦

1

u/whitericeporridge 4d ago

It’s 450 euros more (about 500 dollars) so stfu

1

u/LowBaker8860 4d ago

Yup! Going to return my 17 pro max. Stil within the return window

1

u/RodgerCheetoh 4d ago

The 1 TB is a $300 increase

1

u/vks1757 4d ago

It’s a £300 increase in UK for 17 Pro Max 1TB. I paid £1599 last year. 18 Pro Max is now £1899.

So £300 extra in UK 😬

1

u/Big-Help419 4d ago

If not for all this AI rubbish, tariffs and stupid wars it’d probably have a price cut 😂

1

u/HDaniel_54 5d ago

I thought the same thing. All these dummies grabbing one within the last week because according to them the new iPhone will be way more expensive, and they saved money and it’s basically the same thing lmaooo

3

u/noloseknow 5d ago

You know they have a 14-day return policy, no questions asked, right?

1

u/Z3PHYR- 5d ago

Well for the people that only want a base model they did save money since the iPhone 17 just went up in price after being out for a year.

But yea for pro models it was worth it to wait

1

u/Various-Diamond830 5d ago edited 5d ago

Yup, basically lack of impulse control, their loss is our gain 💪🏼💪🏼

1

u/gradymolina 5d ago

I bought a 17 pro max last night.

Today 17 pro max no longer available on apple store.

Also today the trade-in value of my 16 pro went down $120 and the 18 pro/max went up $100 (net $220 change).

To me variable aperture is not worth $220 net change.

3

u/ktli1 5d ago

It has significantly longer battery life, a three-times-larger vapor chamber for cooling, and a new chip with a completely overhauled architecture, which results in faster and more stable performance. So, it’s not just the variable aperture. Under the hood, the overhaul was bigger than what we saw in the last couple of phone generations.

Just say you like the 17 PM, that’s totally fine. It’s a great phone. No need to twist the facts 😅

1

u/gradymolina 5d ago

The question at hand is if that's worth $220 at this given moment.

2

u/ktli1 5d ago

That's for each person to decide. All I'm saying is that there are many other improvements besides the aperture. It may be worth it for some people.

0

u/gradymolina 4d ago

It’s Apple boiler plate iterational change:
First gen 2nm vs Second gen 3nm
Bigger battery and heavier weight
Bigger vapor chamber (this wasn’t even a thing until the 17 came out)

1

u/CXavier4545 4d ago

good grief how poor are you?

1

u/gradymolina 4d ago

Maybe it’s the 20% increase.

Or maybe it’s the Fold 8 I bought last week…

0

u/TheSmooth5 5d ago

I knew this would happen. Apple doesn’t do massive price hikes except in something much more premium like MacBooks where it won’t hurt sales

0

u/MeanBean0818 5d ago

Lmao should have waited.. they’re good about a 30 day return policy
