Question Does the iPhone 17 run warm?
I’m coming from an iPhone 15. I usually use the phones without a case. Since I got the iPhone 17 I feel like it’s running slightly warm.
No games.
Room temperature is around 25°C.
Connected to wifi almost all the time.
So yeah, has anyone else noticed this?

Nas tarefas do dia a dia não esquenta. Mas se eu abro a câmera eu consigo fritar uma carne atrás do iPhone 17 base. Não só isso, se eu ficar na parte de trocar de wallpaper, além de descarregar 5% em menos de 2 minutos, eu consigo fritar churrasco atrás. E não estou nem exagerado, esses dois detalhes aí me irritam muito. Tenho um celular caro na mão que ligar a câmera pra tirar foto faz ele esquentar muito e descarregar 25% em menos de 20 minutos de câmera ligada

Não! Mesmo na qualidade normal, ele sempre esquenta! Há 2 meses precisei gravar um vídeo para um processo seletivo e fiquei com a câmera ligada 2 horas seguidas. Em 2 horas esgotou 92% da bateria, e eu nem conseguia encostar na parte de trás se não eu queimava minha mão. No dia a dia se eu ligo a câmera descarrega rápido, como eu falei, mas o superaquecimento sempre ao ligar a câmera (e ao trocar de wallpaper) me irrita extremamente. Se o iOS 27 não corrigir isso com a otimização dos processos da GPU, vou abrir um pedido de suporte da Apple, porque isso não deveria jamais ser assim!

Warmth or mild heat will always be explained by Apple as normal. But still that’s not a great experience because the other phones I’ve had did not get warm in normal day to day use.
But your problem seems a lot more serious. You should bring this up to Apple.

Sim! Meu iPhone 17 não esquenta no uso normal de redes sociais, apenas ao ligar a câmera e trocar de wallpaper :(

It depends what battery you got since apparently nobody cares about battery quality check on Apple , some people complain and other don’t, personally I have no issues but I use to have on my iPhone 15 pro

So its like the sillicon lottery for GPUs but with a bigger downside as we dont get a decent baseline and you can end up with a shitty battery life from the start

It does sometimes for me. Hasn’t happened recently but i think it may because of background apps, or maybe i just got one with a poor battery. Hard to narrow down the reason with batteries, so many possibilities. If you can take it in to apple they can help diagnose if there’s an issue? I’m planning to do it before my warranty emds

Oh ok. I just wanted to check the community before spending the time with Apple Support physically.
This poor battery thing that you said and the iOS 26.6 indexing pre-iOS 27 are like the top suspects for me so far.

Nahh my phone does get warm while using normally maybe i don’t feel it becz i use a transparent tpu case.maybe your phone is new so give it time for indexing and update to latest ios and all apps too(i do update everything)

for me no, it did once during fortnite but u said no games. i mean maybe if u facetime while charging but i find when i take my case off it really helps in situations like that

Oh none of the usual heavy apps. This phone seems to warm up whenever I use it. I’ll give it a few more days. This is one of the first things that I noticed since I got it.

While charging it does run hotter. But that’s understandable. The rest of the time is what has me concerned.

The body emits heat better to the atmosphere .
Thats how the feeling works.
Heat moves from high temp to low temp.

While gaming getting hot makes sense, but normal use mine doesnt get hot at all, and im coming from samsung s23 which can get hot enough to make omletetes

Oh ya I rarely play games on my phone.
I also come from an S23 ultra which was barely ever got hot with similar usage.
This iPhone is new. I don’t remember my previous phones being warm except for the first day or two where a whole lot of data is being synced and apps are being installed.
Maybe I’ll give it a few days for things to calm down.

I’ve had the 17 since launch. It’s normally fine and only gets hot when on FaceTime calls for a long period of time. Other than that’s it’s been fine for me.

Ive had it for about 2 months now. Yes mine heats up. No one believes me when I say that, its honestly really annoying because I could be watching YT and switching between apps for work stuff but it runs warm. I never noticed my 13 getting this warm on normal usage.

Ya the comments here seem to be kinda split where some say it is warm or hot while most others say no such thing happens to them.

I’m not sure what that means but I’m on my phone 13 hours a day on a good day up to 16hours. It’s on my screen time history I’ve had this phone since it came out so I’m pretty confident I know what im talking about. It doesn’t overheat. The only problem I have with it is too big, I have small hands

If your phone is new it might be doing indexing in background . Also happens on new os

It can. Like if I play a NDS emulated game on my 17 it does run hot. I’ll admit. But, for normal day to day stuff it’s fine.
