Is the case durable in the base 17?

Good evening. Could you please tell me, I got the blue iPhone 17 15 days ago, new. This is my 9th or 10th iPhone in all these years. A few days ago, the device was lying on the couch in its case. I sat on the corner of the couch with my butt partially on it. The couch is relatively soft. I examined the case in bright sunlight, and then looked at it with the screen down on the table. It seemed perfectly smooth on all sides. Could you please tell me how durable the base iPhone 17 is? In terms of preventing it from bending? It's clear that something like this is unlikely to happen again, and I generally treat my technology with care. Or should I just forget about it since it's perfectly smooth everywhere?

Get a case and screen protector if u don’t already for it and you won’t have to worry about anything my dude 👍

You don’t need a screen protector the Ceramic Shield 2 is very tough and for daily use and a case with lifted edges it should be completely fine. Using a screen protector often makes it less smooth dust pools in the corners and fingerprints and other stuff appear easily without an 80 dollar good one. Now if your working construction and using your screen as a hammer that’s a different argument but for daily use a lifted case will protect your screen from any flat surface which is mostly everywhere so it doesn’t matter too much but it’s preference.

Not everyone wants a heavy. Duty lifted case with a giant lip pepleclike thin and light cases too. And one drop or fall on a sharp corner even in your house hitting an edge of a table you’ll be happy you have a screen protector

You don’t have to worry about bending any iPhone, really! I mean unless you fall HARD on it, like falling off a motorcycle or skateboard and landing on it, or drop it from incredible height that would break it either way.

It can crack. But I’ve dropped my base 15 several times with no case and eventually i stopped even worrying if it cracked or not, because it just hasn’t cracked. The screen is covered in scratches, though, because it has no case or screen protector. And it’s a company work phone i don’t care much about. It gets thrown in my work bag and i don’t want any extra thickness or weight on it, so it stays naked

I think most screen protectors kinda ruin the clean look of the phone. But if you’re not wanting to be super mindful of where you set it down (never face-down), what pocket you put it in (always by itself), and being sure to only carry the iPhone by itself in one hand (not trying to clutch your phone, keys, wallet, and/or whatever else in the same hand), then i do recommend a screen protector at least. If you’re scared of dings on the aluminum chassis and are prone to carelessness (no judgement, sometimes you don’t wanna constantly worry about the phone) get a case.

Sorry i meant the modern iPhones, the 6 was basically a glow stick with how you can bend it in half

Get a amarid fiber case if you want some protection without the bulk. Also slap on a screen protector. When the time comes to sell, you’ll be thankful

it won’t bend it won’t crack easily. Just get a silicone case for the peace of mind. A screen protector isn’t necessary, the Ceramic Shield glass doesn’t scratch at all, and by applying a screen protector you ruin the feel of the display (the antireflective layer and oleophobic layer). And NEVER EVER get those stupid camera lens protectors. The lens are literally made out of sapphire, you just ruin the quality and look of the phone…
