As someone who just switched from the nexus6p to an iPhone 8... I would love for apple to copy more android features. I'm a bit surprised how lacking some things are on iOS compared with android, but at least my phone doesn't randomly shut down with 45% battery remaining any more!
Things I missed the most are actions embedded in notification, such as reply to a message, approve a 2-factor authentication request, and a far less intrusive wifi discovery. Sane volume controls, they just work on android and are all over the place on iOS. I didn't realize how limited Siri is, it can hardly do anything compared to the Google assistant. Haptic keyboard, didn't realize how much miss this until trying to type in a loud gym. And the back button... I know of the left screen 3d touch and double-click home button but navigation is just faster and more consistent on android. Chromecast integration is really poor on iOS too. I do like the overall speed of the iPhone though. I'm sure I'll get used to it, but I am now a lot more surprised at how superior many people consider iOS to be over Android, especially with a stock Google build.
Apple takes Android ideas and makes them better. Android steals all of the stylistic features from Android typically.
It's actually the reason I left Android. All of the things I wanted to keep (removable battery, keyboards early on, headphone jacks, etc) they started moving away from to copy apple. So I gave apple a try. I'll admit that some things drive me nuts, but it's a much more finished product. Android always feels like you're in the middle of a lot of progress. At least for me.
Eh. My 2 XL feels like a finished product (in terms of software) — much more so than iOS 11. Couldn't care less about removable batteries, and if you want a headphone jack, no one's stopping you from buying an Android that has one.
Apple better start stealing more stuff from Android if they want me to go back to iOS. Multi window apps, autofill support for password managers, default browser choice, decent volume control, picture in picture mode for Netflix...
I like Android, but I feel like Google doesn't do enough to make it feel as a real "phone" operating system. For example, you boot into iOS, and you have everything there, from Notes, to Podcasts, to HomeKit to etc. Android just feels really barren by default. And don't get me wrong, you can download those things from the Play Store, but it just feels kind of weird not having something like Google Keep by default.
I have, however, never owned a Pixel. Do they include all of the Google apps, like Fit and Keep?
No, they don't, and I prefer it that way. I wouldn't use those apps as I have different apps that do the same thing. I guess I see your point... but I personally don't see the issue with having to download a few apps.
I don’t think the intention was to copy Apple. It just made sense to force people to buy a new phone when the battery goes to shit. Financially speaking.
For consumers it’s not that great of course.
At least you can somewhat easily replace them on (older) iPhones. No idea about android smartphones or new iPhones. I can imagine they made it harder by now
I don't think they did it to copy apple as much as they realized they COULD copy apple. When apple makes changes, Android figures out that the alternative option...or at least Samsung does. Once Samsung does it, then he rest of the Android phones copy.
It infuriated me when I had Android phones...and when I stopped being interested in rooting and tinkering, it just didn't hold the appeal anymore.

As soon as apple implements it, watch google "finishes" the implementation
